Firmness, Comfort & Support

Simba's mattress is rated at medium firmness. Brook + Wilde offers sleepers the choice of a soft, medium or firm finish. Let’s look at the pros and cons of each mattress in this department.

Simba Hybrid Mattress
Dropdown arrow
  • Due to its layer of latex, the Simba Hybrid mattress is both responsive and comfortable, and is highly breathable.
  • The layer of microcoils help to create a good level of sinkage without any pressure points being created.
  • The microcoils also help to add a little more bounce than you would normally get from a foam mattress.
  • The contour and hug of the Simba Hybrid mattress provides a great mix of sinkage, contour and support.
  • Lighter weight sleepers may find that the Simba Hybrid mattress is a little too firm for them, as the mattress will not ‘sink’ as much to contour round them.
  • Simba’s mattresses are ideal for couples of differing weight, as there is no discernable ‘roll’ towards each other whilst sleeping. However, the mattress can dip on one side over time.
Brook + Wilde Lux Mattress

  • All Brook + Wilde mattresses come with the option of choosing a soft, medium or firm finish, meaning you can choose the right feel to suit you.
  • The double layer of springs in the mattresses means that they provide good edge support and don’t sag as some all foam mattresses can.
  • The mattresses have added bounce in comparison to many of the other mattress in a box brands.
  • The medium mattress is particularly suited for side sleepers, whereas front sleepers will probably find the firm mattress a better option.

Simba vs Brook + Wilde other factors

The verdict - Brook + Wilde or Simba mattress?

Both mattresses offer appealing factors, but here are some points to consider when deciding which best meets your requirements.

We'd recommend the Simba Hybrid Mattress if:

  • You want a hybrid mattress. The Simba uses latex, microcoils, memory foam and a 7-zoned support foam. All this makes for a responsive mattress with good support.
  • You sleep on your side or back and want a mattress that responds to pressure in a faster manner than most foam mattresses.
  • You want good edge support. Because of the extra layer of foam around the perimeter of the coils, the Simba maintains its support around the edges.
  • You’re of a light to medium build, as some users of a heavier build report that the mattress can be prone to sinkage on one side over time.

We'd recommend the Brook + Wilde Lux Mattress if:

  • You want a luxury mattress using high quality materials and components.
  • You are a light sleeper and need a mattress with little motion transfer.
  • You want a mattress that can be adapted to suit all body types and builds.
  • You want a mattress that has excellent edge support and doesn't sag.

Prices & sizes

Both manufacturers make their mattresses in a range of UK sizes, with the largest for both being a UK Super King and Simba also offer a small number of EU sizes. Starting prices for both mattresses are similar, however Simba's regular discounts make their mattress a few hundred pounds cheaper than the Brook + Wilde Lux. Let's look into the mattresses further.
