Editorial policy

This page sets out the standards every piece of Mattress Unboxed content is held to. It exists so you can hold us to them too.

Independence

Editorial and commercial decisions are kept separate. Commission rates, partnerships and advertising have no influence on what we cover, how we score it, or what we conclude. No brand or retailer is shown content before publication. We explain this further on How We Make Money.

Sourcing standards

Our first source is our own tracked data: the prices, price histories, specifications and availability we record across the UK market daily. Where we go beyond our own data, we use primary and recognised sources, and we say who they are. Statistics are attributed with a source and, where relevant, a date. Outbound links point to real, verified pages. If a claim cannot be substantiated, we cut it rather than assert it.

Health and sleep content

Mattresses sit close to health, so we hold sleep-health content to a stricter standard. Our rule is simple: we report qualified sources, we do not act as one. When we cover topics like snoring, back pain or sleep quality, we report what recognised authorities such as the NHS, peer-reviewed research and established sleep organisations say, with attribution. We do not offer medical advice in our own voice, and nothing we publish is a substitute for speaking to a qualified professional about your own situation.

Authors and accountability

Everything we publish carries a named author with a real bio, so you know who stands behind it. Our reviews, comparisons and guides are written and edited by our editorial team, led by our Editor, Richard Plumridge. As the site grows we intend to add credentialed specialist review for clinical sleep topics, and we will name those reviewers when we do.

Accuracy and corrections

We track and display 5000+ different mattress prices and endeavour to make sure they're up to date. However, a brand or retailer may change their price without prior notice. If you find one we have wrong, email prices@mattressunboxed.co.uk and we will check it against the retailer and correct it.

Keeping content current

Prices and availability update automatically from our data pipeline. Editorial content is reviewed on a cycle: best-of guides quarterly, comparisons roughly every six months, and evergreen guides at least annually, with the review reflected in the page's updated date. If a product is discontinued or a market shifts, we update or retire the page rather than leave it misleading.
