Why should you choose this mattress?
The memory foam layer cushions your body, which takes some of the edge off a firm mattress. Underneath, hourglass-shaped open springs spread your body weight evenly, so support stays steady across the surface. Traditional tufting is there for extra durability, and the soft-touch damask cover feels gentle. It's made in the UK at the Birmingham Bed Factory. Overall it suits back sleepers and anyone who wants firm support, although side sleepers who need plenty of give at the shoulders and hips may find it too firm.
Key features & layer details
Pressure-relieving memory foam
A layer of memory foam sits above the springs to cushion your body. It gives the firm surface a little softness where you press into it.
Traditional open coil springs
Hourglass-shaped open springs distribute your body weight evenly. That gives steady, traditional support across the whole mattress.

Best suited for?
Back sleepers
Hourglass-shaped open springs spread your body weight evenly, so a firm, steady support runs across the whole surface while you lie on your back.
Guest rooms
A straightforward firm feel and a soft-touch damask cover suit a spare bed, with a 100-night trial giving time to check it works.
Heavier sleepers
Traditional tufting adds durability, and the firm open coil springs share out body weight evenly, which helps the mattress feel steady under more weight.
If you prefer sleeping on a soft or medium mattress, this might not be the best choice. It's rated firm, and there's a single memory foam layer above the springs, so lighter side sleepers may find it pushes back. It's also one-sided, so you can rotate it but you can't flip it.
Save on an earlier or ex-display model
Some retailers still sell the earlier version of this mattress, or ex-display and returned stock at a lower price. These are the sizes where it costs less than the current model's best price.
