Why should you choose this mattress?
The waterproof cover is the main draw, since it wipes clean and the fabric has anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal protection. That makes it a practical choice for younger children and bunk or cabin beds. The medium firmness gives steady support without feeling hard, and the e-Fibre comfort layers are breathable, which should help with durability and comfort. The e-Fibre is made from 100% recyclable plastic bottles, so there's an eco angle too. It arrives rolled in a box, which makes it easy to carry up the stairs. Jay-Be backs it with a 5-year guarantee. It suits most children, although the flat top is fairly simple.
Key features & layer details
Spring core
A medium firmness core of open coil springs. It gives the mattress its steady, medium feel and supports a growing child.
High-Density Eco-insulator
A High-Density Eco-insulator that stops you feeling the springs through the surface. Sources disagree on whether it sits above the springs or just beneath the comfort layers.
e-Fibre comfort layers
Breathable e-Fibre layers made from 100% recyclable plastic bottles. They add comfort and durability and let air move through the surface.

Best suited for?
Children
This open coil mattress is made for children and has a medium core, which gives steady support without feeling hard as they grow.
European bed frames
Sized as an EU Single to fit European IKEA-size bed frames, it suits those frames directly, though it won't fit UK-size ones.
Bunk beds
The wipe-clean waterproof cover and 18cm depth make it a practical pick for bunk or cabin beds, where spills are a hassle to deal with.
Eco-conscious buyers
The e-Fibre comfort layers are made from 100% recyclable plastic bottles, so part of the mattress has a recycled-material angle while staying breathable.
Budget buyers
It is currently on sale at an affordable price level, and the 5-year guarantee adds some reassurance for a mattress aimed at younger sleepers.
If you want a deep, plush or heavily cushioned mattress, this might not be the best choice. It's 18cm deep with a flat top and a medium feel, so there's no pillow top or thick comfort layer. It's also an EU Single only, so it won't suit UK-size frames. Jay-Be doesn't publish a spring count, and the mattress can't be flipped.
Save on an earlier or ex-display model
Some retailers still sell the earlier version of this mattress, or ex-display and returned stock at a lower price. These are the sizes where it costs less than the current model's best price.

FAQ's
How firm is the Jay-Be Simply Kids Waterproof Euro IKEA Size Mattress in a Box?
It's rated medium firmness, with a flat top. That suits most children who want steady support without a hard feel, although anyone wanting a plush, softer surface may find it too plain.
What size is the Jay-Be Simply Kids Waterproof Euro IKEA Size Mattress in a Box?
It comes in EU Single only, at 90cm x 200cm. That's made for European IKEA-size bed frames, so measure your frame first, as it won't fit a standard UK single, which is shorter.
How deep is the Jay-Be Simply Kids Waterproof Euro IKEA Size Mattress in a Box?
It's 18cm deep. That's a slim profile, which works well for bunk or cabin beds where you want enough space above the mattress, but it isn't as deep as a plush, thick mattress.
Is the Jay-Be Simply Kids Waterproof Euro IKEA Size Mattress in a Box waterproof?
Yes, it has a waterproof cover that's easy to wipe clean, plus anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal fabric protection. That makes it a sensible pick for accidents and spills, as long as you wipe the surface rather than soak it.
Does the Jay-Be Simply Kids Waterproof Euro IKEA Size Mattress in a Box have a guarantee?
Yes, Jay-Be gives it a 5-year guarantee. We don't have a confirmed trial length, so if a trial matters to you, compare the retailers listed on this page.
