Why should you choose this mattress?
The cooling gel layer is designed to dissipate excess body heat, which helps if you tend to wake up warm. Each pocket spring is wrapped in its own cloth sleeve and isn't attached to its neighbours, so the springs work independently. The foam-encapsulated border is there to give edge-to-edge support, so you can use the full width of the bed. The knitted cover is soft and breathable. The medium rating should suit most back and side sleepers, although anyone who wants a very firm or very plush feel may want to try something different. Sweet Dreams backs it with a 5-year guarantee.
Key features & layer details
Stretch knit micro-quilted cover
A soft-touch, micro-quilted knitted cover that adds plushness and a breathable surface. It gives the mattress a gentle feel when you first lie down.
Cooling gel layer
A gel-infused layer designed to dissipate excess body heat. It helps you stay at a comfortable temperature through the night.
Pocket spring unit
Rows of small-diameter pocket springs, each wrapped in its own cloth sleeve and not attached to the springs around it. Each spring can move on its own, so the mattress responds to your body where you lie.
Foam encapsulated border
A high-density foam border around the perimeter springs. It gives edge-to-edge support, so the sides feel more stable when you sit or sleep near them.

Best suited for?
Warm sleepers
The gel-infused layer is designed to dissipate excess body heat, and the breathable knitted cover helps you stay at a comfortable temperature through the night.
Back sleepers
A medium rating sits in the middle for feel and support, so it gives a balanced surface that suits lying on your back.
Side sleepers
Independent pocket springs, each in its own cloth sleeve, move on their own so the mattress responds to your body where you lie.
Couples
The foam-encapsulated border gives edge-to-edge support, which means you can use the full width of the bed and the sides feel stable.
If you prefer sleeping on a firm mattress, this might not be the best choice. It's rated medium, so it sits in the middle for feel and support. It's also single-sided, so you can rotate it but not flip it. Sizes start at a UK small double, so there's no single if you need one.
Save on an earlier or ex-display model
Some retailers still sell the earlier version of this mattress, or ex-display and returned stock at a lower price. These are the sizes where it costs less than the current model's best price.

What sizes does the Sweet Dreams Oura Gel Pocket 1000 come in?
It comes in a UK small double (120 x 190cm), UK double (135 x 190cm), UK king (150 x 200cm) and UK super king (180 x 200cm). It isn't made in a UK single.
How deep is the Sweet Dreams Oura Gel Pocket 1000?
It's 29cm deep, a figure given for the UK small double. If your bed frame has a tight depth limit, check the depth for your size with the retailer before you order.

Archers Sleepcentre offers a 42-night comfort trial, which is the retailer's own offer. Sweet Dreams provides a 5-year guarantee against manufacturing faults on the mattress itself.
