Millbrook Smooth Tech 4000 Pillow Top Mattress

Assessed from the specification published by wantmattress.com, captured October 2026, and from regular price comparison across our UK retail partners.

The pillow top is filled with natural fibres, so you get a cushioned surface without foam. Under it, 3000 micro springs are there for pressure relief and targeted support, with 1000 pocket springs forming the main support system. Support is zoned in seven areas, and the reinforced edge uses a rod frame and butterfly springs, so the sides should hold up better when you sit or sleep near them. It's rated medium, which suits most sleepers, although people who want a very firm or very soft feel may want something different. Turning handles make it easier to rotate. Millbrook also describes it as completely chemical-free, and it comes with a 10-year guarantee.

Side sleepers
The 3000 micro springs under the pillow top give targeted pressure relief, so the mattress responds closely to your shape at the shoulders and hips.

Combination sleepers
A medium rating with 1000 pocket springs underneath stops the cushioned top feeling vague, which suits anyone who changes position through the night.

Couples
Support is zoned in seven areas and the reinforced edge uses a rod frame and butterfly springs, so sitting or sleeping near the sides should feel steadier.

Eco-conscious buyers
The pillow top is filled with wool, cotton, silk and cashgora rather than foam, and Millbrook describes the mattress as completely chemical-free.

If you prefer sleeping on a firm mattress, this might not be the best choice. It's rated medium and the pillow top adds cushioning, so heavier sleepers who want very firm support may find it too forgiving. It's single-sided, so you can rotate it but not flip it. At 32cm deep, it also needs a frame and bedding that can cope.

How firm is the Millbrook Smooth Tech 4000 Pillow Top?

It's rated medium, with a pillow top adding cushioning on the surface. That should suit a wide range of sleepers, although anyone who wants a really firm or a plush, sinking feel may prefer a different firmness.
