Why should you choose this mattress?
The main draw is temperature. The gel comfort layer is 5x more breathable than standard memory foam, and the CoolEase woven cover draws heat away from your body, so it makes sense if you tend to sleep warm. The gel also responds to movement, which means it should work whether you sleep on your back, side or front. Underneath, reflex foam gives pressure relief and body-contouring support, while 1600 pocket springs provide the support. Dreams offers a 100-night trial, so you can find out how it feels at home. The downside is that Silentnight doesn't publish a firmness, so you can't judge the feel from the specification alone.
Key features & layer details
Reflex Gel comfort layer
A flexible gel layer that Silentnight says is 5x more breathable than standard memory foam. That means a cooler sleeping surface and a feel that responds as you move.
Mirapocket pocket spring unit
A unit of 1600 pocket springs, with reflex foam for pressure relief and body-contouring support. It gives you support underneath while the foam cushions your shoulders and hips.

Best suited for?
Warm sleepers
The gel comfort layer is 5x more breathable than standard memory foam, and the CoolEase woven cover draws heat away from your body, so the surface stays cooler.
Combination sleepers
Because the gel responds to movement, the surface adapts as you turn through the night, which suits anyone who shifts between back, side and front.
Side sleepers
Reflex foam gives pressure relief and body-contouring support, so your shoulders and hips are cushioned while the 1600 pocket springs support you underneath.
Back sleepers
The gel layer responds to movement and works for any sleeping position, while 1600 pocket springs give steady support beneath the contouring reflex foam.
If you need to know the firmness before you buy, this might not be the best choice, because Silentnight doesn't publish one. That makes it harder to match to your weight or sleeping position on paper. It's also a pocket spring mattress with a gel and foam top, so it won't give you the feel of an all-foam mattress.
Save on an earlier or ex-display model
Some retailers still sell the earlier version of this mattress, or ex-display and returned stock at a lower price. These are the sizes where it costs less than the current model's best price.

FAQ's
How firm is the Silentnight SleepResponse Reflex 1600 Combination Mattress?
Silentnight doesn't publish a firmness for this mattress. It says the gel responds to movement so you can sleep in any position, but that isn't a firmness rating. Dreams offers a 100-night trial, which is the safest way to judge the feel.
What sizes does the Silentnight SleepResponse Reflex 1600 Combination Mattress come in?
It comes in a UK single, UK small double, UK double, UK king and UK super king. Check your bed frame size before ordering so you pick the right one.
How deep is the Silentnight SleepResponse Reflex 1600 Combination Mattress?
It's 26cm deep. That's worth checking against your bed frame or headboard if you're replacing a much thinner or thicker mattress.
How many springs does the Silentnight SleepResponse Reflex 1600 Combination Mattress have?
It has 1600 pocket springs in a Mirapocket unit, combined with reflex foam for pressure relief and body-contouring support. The springs are the support layer under the gel comfort layer.
Is the Silentnight SleepResponse Reflex 1600 Combination Mattress good for hot sleepers?
It's designed with that in mind. The gel layer is 5x more breathable than standard memory foam and the CoolEase woven cover draws heat away from the body, though Silentnight doesn't quantify the overall cooling effect.
