Key benefits
- More room each than a double: You get 75cm each, which is 7.5cm more per person than the UK double, enough for a restless partner to turn over with less chance of an elbow in your back.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, so anyone close to 6ft can stretch out without their feet meeting the edge.
- Space between early and late risers: If one of you is up hours before the other, the extra width puts a slightly bigger gap between you as the early riser climbs out in the dark.
- Helps when two bodies share heat: Two people on one mattress build up warmth, and the CoolEase woven cover is designed to draw heat away, which may help the warmer sleeper of the pair.
- A middle ground for the bedroom: The UK king needs less floor than the UK super king, which matters in a new build main bedroom that shrinks once fitted wardrobes go in.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK double leaves you nudging each other, one of you is tall enough to feel short-changed by a 190cm bed, or your hours rarely line up and you want a little more distance when one of you gets up early.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is below our suggested minimum of 2.7m x 2.9m. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

FAQ's
How much space do two people get on a UK king Silentnight Reflex 1600?
Each of you gets 75cm of width on the UK king. That is 7.5cm more each than the UK double, which gives 67.5cm per person. It sounds modest on paper, but couples upgrading from a double often find it is the difference between sleeping alongside a partner and sleeping on top of their movements.
Is the Silentnight Reflex 1600 king size long enough for someone over 6ft?
The UK king measures 200cm long, or 6ft 6in, which is 10cm longer than the UK double. If one partner is close to 6ft or taller, that extra length is often the bigger gain than the width, because it stops feet hanging over the end or pillows being pushed hard against the headboard.
What size bedroom do I need for a UK king Reflex 1600 mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, with 3.2m x 3.2m giving comfortable room to walk around both sides. Measure with wardrobes and bedside tables already in place, as a new build room can feel generous empty and much tighter once furnished.
Should I choose the UK king or UK super king Silentnight Reflex 1600?
The UK king is 30cm narrower than the UK super king and the same length, giving 15cm less each. The UK super king needs at least 3m x 2.9m by our guidance, so if your room is smaller, the UK king is the sensible choice. If you have the space and a partner who sprawls, size up.
What bedding fits a Silentnight Reflex 1600 king size mattress?
Standard UK king fitted sheets suit the 150 x 200cm surface, and a 230 x 220cm king duvet gives enough overhang to share without a tug of war. The mattress is 26cm deep, so check a fitted sheet's pocket depth before you buy it, then compare the retailers listed on this page.
