Choose the Dartington Soft if you want traditional craftsmanship and a gently cushioned feel. The springs are hand-nested in calico pockets, which means each one moves independently, so you feel supported at every point rather than pushed back at. The fillings are entirely natural, wool and cotton, which breathe far better than synthetic foams, a genuine help if you sleep warm. The base is 21cm deep with around 6cm of doming on top, that soft, pillowy crown you see on traditional mattresses. Who's it NOT for?
This is the Soft tension, so it will feel too yielding if you prefer a firmer, more supportive surface, particularly heavier back and front sleepers who may sink in more than is comfortable. Vispring does offer Medium, Firm and Extra Firm tensions instead. And if your budget sits below £3,099, this simply is not the mattress for you.
