Everything in the Magnificence is there to do a job. The 2,812 vanadium steel pocket springs in the 150 x 200cm size are hand-nested in calico pockets, which means each spring moves independently, so you feel support that follows your shape rather than a flat, uniform push-back. Horsetail is naturally springy and wicks moisture, and the Shetland wool, cashmere and mohair above it breathe well, which matters if you sleep warm. The page lists an overall depth of 25cm plus around 6cm of doming, giving a deep, cushioned surface. Yes, the price is extraordinary, but the materials and hand-built construction are the reason it costs what it does.
Key Features & what's inside
- Top upholstery layer. Hand-opened Austrian Moosburger® horsetail with hand-teased real Shetland wool blended with cashmere and mohair. Horsetail gives a resilient, breathable surface, while the wool blend adds soft, temperature-regulating comfort directly beneath you.
- Middle upholstery layer. Blended real Shetland wool and cotton. This sits between the comfort layer and the springs, which means the cushioning feels progressive rather than letting you sink straight onto the spring unit.
- Spring layer. A two-layer, hand-nested calico pocket spring construction with 2,812 vanadium steel pocket springs in the 150 x 200cm size. Two tiers of independent springs respond to both light and deeper pressure, so you get contouring and firm underlying support at once.
- Base upholstery layer. Blended real Shetland wool and cotton again, this time beneath the springs. It protects the spring unit and gives the mattress a stable, quiet foundation.

Who's it NOT for?
At £21,249 upwards, this is out of reach for most budgets, and no mattress needs to cost this much to be supportive. It is also only listed in UK King and Super King, so single and double sleepers will need to look elsewhere. If you prefer the contouring hug of memory foam, an all-natural pocket spring feel may seem too springy.

How many springs does the Vispring Magnificence have?
It has 2,812 hand-nested vanadium steel pocket springs in the 150 x 200cm size, arranged in a two-layer calico pocket construction. Spring counts vary with mattress size, so other sizes will differ.
How firm is the Vispring Magnificence?
This version is the medium/firm tension. Vispring's own page describes the Magnificence as "the ultimate in firm support" and lists it in Soft, Medium, Firm and Extra Firm tensions, so you can choose the feel that suits your weight and sleeping position.
What is the Vispring Magnificence made of?
Natural materials throughout: Austrian Moosburger® horsetail, Shetland wool, cashmere, mohair, cotton and coir, over vanadium steel pocket springs, finished in high-quality ticking. There is no synthetic foam in the comfort layers.
How deep is the Vispring Magnificence mattress?
Vispring lists an overall depth of 25cm, plus around 6cm of doming (give or take 2cm), so the finished mattress sits noticeably deeper than the base figure suggests. Bear this in mind when buying fitted sheets.
How much does the Vispring Magnificence cost?
Prices run from £21,249 to £27,099 depending on size, with UK King and UK Super King available. It is a genuinely top-of-the-market price, reflecting hand-made construction and rare natural fibres rather than everyday value.
