Layer Details
- Distance beats any comfort layer: With 90cm each for two people sharing, a fidgety partner is simply further away, and the pocket springs absorb what little movement does travel across.
- Room for night-time visitors: If a child pads in at 3am, or the dog treats your bed as its own, 180cm of width means everyone still gets a workable share.
- The right scale for a big master: In a period property or a large main bedroom, a UK king can look oddly small; the super king fills the space properly.
- Same length as the UK king: At 200cm long (6ft x 6ft 6in overall), taller sleepers get the same legroom as the UK king, with an extra 30cm of width.
- Medium firm across a wide surface: The medium firm feel suits most sleeping positions, and the independent springs mean each of you gets support tuned to your own weight, wherever you lie.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and one of you moves around enough to wake the other, or children and pets regularly join you and a UK king has started to feel crowded. It also makes sense if your master bedroom is large enough that a smaller bed would look lost in it, and you can allow at least 3m x 2.9m of floor space.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 3m x 2.9m we suggest, or the route upstairs involves tight landing turns. In that case we'd recommend the UK king instead, which is 30cm narrower and needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is a super king too big for my bedroom?
For the Emperor Arthur in a UK super king we suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m. That leaves space to walk round the bed and open drawers or wardrobes. Measure with door swing in mind too: a mattress this wide can foul a door that opens into the room.
Will the Emperor Arthur super king get up my stairs?
Arthur Sleep doesn't publish a weight or handling guidance for this mattress, and at 180cm wide it's the trickiest standard size to move. Measure your stairwell, landing turns and door frames before ordering, and check the retailer's delivery notes for whether the team will carry it to the room of choice.
Is the super king worth it over the king for couples?
If one of you is a restless sleeper, yes. The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king at the same length, and combined with pocket springs that move independently, that extra distance does more to protect your sleep than any comfort layer would.
Does the Emperor Arthur super king suit families who co-sleep?
It's the best size in the range for it. At 180 x 200cm there's room for a young child to climb in without pushing either adult to the edge, and the medium firm pocket spring build keeps support consistent even with an extra small body aboard. Large dogs count too.
