Layer Details
Knitted cover
A soft knitted finish that adds cosiness, with specialised yarn technology designed to expel heat. In practice, that means a warmer-feeling surface to the touch without trapping heat overnight.
Soft White Fibres
Soft synthetic fillings that create a cosy top feel while staying durable and resilient. They're designed to hold their shape over time rather than flattening quickly.
Reflex Foam
A soft, flexible foam layer that adds support where you need it. This helps keep your spine aligned, which you'll feel as steadier, more even support across the mattress.
Pocket Springs
2000 steel pocket springs, each housed in its own individual pocket. Because every spring moves independently, the mattress adapts to your body shape and reduces movement transfer to your partner.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Proper space for two: With 75cm each for two people sharing, you can both change position without negotiating for territory, which matters most on a firm mattress where you sleep on the surface rather than in it.
- Less partner disturbance across the width: Each of the 2000 pocket springs moves independently, so an early riser slipping out on their side sends little movement across to yours.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: At 200cm long, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, a real difference if either of you is approaching six foot.
- Cooler sharing: Two bodies raise the temperature under a duvet, and the cover's heat-expelling yarn helps counter that, useful for couples who run warm.
- Firm support edge to edge: The reflex foam layer above the springs keeps support even across the full 150cm width, so neither sleeper drifts into a dip in the middle.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and have outgrown a double, you or your partner keep different hours and want movement on one side to stay on that side, or one of you is tall enough that the 10cm of extra length over a UK double solves a nightly annoyance. It also suits couples who like a firm feel but tend to overheat when sharing.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king, or you sleep alone and don't need the width. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is the Bodyshape Cooler 2000 in a UK king good for couples?
Yes, and it's arguably the size where this mattress makes most sense. The 2000 pocket springs limit how much movement crosses the bed, and 75cm each for two people sharing gives that isolation room to work. If one of you gets up hours before the other, the combination is noticeably kinder than a double.
What room size do I need for a UK king mattress?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, which leaves space to walk round the bed and open drawers. Measure with wardrobes and radiators in mind; a new build master bedroom can feel smaller than the floor plan suggests once furniture is in place.
Is a UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, the UK king suits most people up to around 6ft 3in comfortably. That extra 10cm over a UK double is often the whole point of the upgrade for taller sleepers, since feet hanging off the end is a length problem no amount of width fixes.
Should I get the Bodyshape Cooler 2000 in a king or a super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and the same length, so it's a width decision. If a dog routinely joins you, or you're pregnant and surrounded by pillows, that width helps, but you'll need a room of at least 3m x 2.9m rather than 2.7m x 2.9m.
Does the firm feel change in the king size?
No, the firmness is the same across every size of this mattress. What changes is how you use it: on a firm surface you don't sink into a fixed spot, so the extra width of a UK king gives you more usable sleeping area than it would on a softer, more contouring mattress.
