- Knitted cover. A super-soft knitted cover with a touch of breathability, which means a gentler first impression when you lie down and a little help letting warm air escape.
- Soft foam comfort layer. A layer of soft Reflex foam sits beneath the cover, cushioning shoulders and hips. It softens the feel of the springs below without making the mattress feel plush overall.
- 800 pocket spring unit. Pressure-reactive springs work independently, which means support tailored to where your body needs it and virtually no motion transfer across the bed. If you share, you should feel far less of your partner's movement.

- The classic shared size: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double gives two people 67.5cm each for two people sharing, which works well for couples who sleep fairly close.
- Less partner disturbance where it matters: Sharing a UK double puts you nearer your partner than a UK king would, so the 800 independent pocket springs limiting motion transfer count for more here.
- Fits most UK bedrooms: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space, which leaves room for a wardrobe and drawers in a typical bedroom or first flat.
- Easy to get upstairs: It arrives vacuum-sealed and rolled, which means the turning stairs of an older terrace or a tight new build landing shouldn't cause a problem.
- Simple to dress: Double fitted sheets and 200 x 200cm duvets are sold everywhere at every price, and the 24cm depth means standard sheets fit without a struggle.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple in a typical UK bedroom and want proper pocket springs without a big spend, you're furnishing a guest room that needs to sleep visiting couples comfortably, or you're kitting out a whole home at once and the budget only stretches so far in each room. The medium firm feel suits most sleeping positions, so it's a safe choice for a bed different people will use.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like room to sprawl, or one of you is a restless sleeper. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, and we'd recommend it instead if your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Coolflex Essentials UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. The UK double is 135 x 190cm, giving 67.5cm each for two people sharing, and the 800 pocket springs move independently so you feel less of a partner's tossing and turning. Broader sleepers, or anyone who spreads out at night, may find it a little snug and prefer the UK king.
What room size do I need for the Coolflex Essentials in a UK double?
We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves walking space on both sides plus room for bedside tables, which matters in a shared room where each of you wants a lamp and somewhere to put a phone.
Should I choose the Coolflex Essentials in a UK double or a UK king?
It comes down to your room. The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, so it fits where a king would dominate. If your bedroom offers at least 2.7m x 2.9m and you value stretching-out space over floor space, size up. Otherwise the UK double is the practical pick.
Will the Coolflex Essentials double fit up narrow stairs?
It should. The mattress arrives vacuum-sealed and rolled in a box, so you're carrying a compact package rather than a full 135 x 190cm mattress. That makes the turning staircases of older terraces and tight modern landings far less of a worry. It expands within 24 hours of unpacking, so unbox it in the bedroom.
Is this double a good choice for a guest room?
It's well suited to one. A UK double sleeps visiting couples without swallowing a spare room, the medium firm feel is a safe middle ground for guests you can't ask about firmness preferences, and the entry-level price makes sense for a bed used a few weekends a year. Double bedding is also cheap and easy to find.
