- Cover. A breathable Belgian damask fabric cover. Damask is a woven fabric rather than a stretchy knit, which means a slightly more traditional, supportive feel on the surface.
- Wool. Wool filling gives a soft, cushioned feel and suits sleepers who prefer a traditional, natural mattress. It's also naturally temperature-regulating, so it helps in both winter and summer.
- Flax. An organic, absorbent, light fibre that enhances breathability. In practice, it helps air move through the upper layers so heat doesn't build up around you.
- Sustainably Sourced Cotton. Highly breathable cotton fibres provide a fresher, cooler sleep surface and wick away excess moisture. It's responsibly sourced from trusted suppliers, which fits the mattress's natural credentials.
- Pocket Springs. Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket, so they move completely independently of one another. That means better pressure-relieving support and less motion transferring across the bed when a partner moves.
Layer details from mattressnextday.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 90cm each for two sharing: Two adults get 90cm each, which means a partner who fidgets or shifts through the night is far enough away to ignore.
- Pocket springs plus distance: The 2,500 springs move independently, and at this width that isolation is compounded by sheer space, so movement on one side barely registers on the other.
- Space when the family arrives: When a child pads in at 3am, a UK super king leaves everyone a workable share of the bed rather than someone clinging to the edge.
- Natural fillings across a wide surface: Wool, flax and cotton breathe well, so even with three bodies or a dog aboard, heat is less likely to build up around you.
- 30cm wider than a UK king: The UK super king adds 30cm of width over the UK king at the same length, and in a large master a king can look undersized anyway.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night with someone genuinely restless and want distance as well as spring isolation, your children or pets treat your bed as partly theirs, or you have a large master bedroom where a smaller mattress would look lost. Allow at least 3m x 2.9m of floor space, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling comfortable.
Consider another size if...
Your room falls short of our suggested 3m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone and don't need 6ft of width. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m by our guidance.

Is the Derby 2500 in a UK super king big enough for a family sharing?
It's the most family-friendly size the Derby 2500 comes in. At 180 x 200cm you get 90cm each for two people sharing, so when a child climbs in there's still a reasonable share of mattress for everyone. The wool and cotton fillings also help keep the surface cool when there are extra bodies in the bed.
Will a super king Derby 2500 fit in my bedroom?
The mattress measures 180 x 200cm, and we suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m, with around 3.5m x 3.2m feeling right. Before ordering, check the door swing and any landing turns on the way up: a mattress this size is where those things start to bite.
Does the UK super king Derby 2500 help with a restless partner?
Yes, on two fronts. The 2,500 pocket springs each sit in their own fabric pocket and move independently, so motion doesn't travel across the bed. Then the width does the rest: with 90cm each, a partner who turns all night is simply further away. For genuinely disturbed sleepers, distance beats any comfort layer.
How much bigger is the super king than the king in this mattress?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK King, and the two are the same length. That extra width is the difference between a shared bed and a bed with genuine personal space, though the UK king needs a smaller room: we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it, against 3m x 2.9m here.
