- 75cm each for two sharing: Each of you gets 75cm of width, so you can settle into your own sleeping position without negotiating over the middle of the bed.
- Springs that keep movement local: Pocket springs compress individually, which means an early alarm or a late night on one side is far less likely to wake the other.
- 200cm of length for taller sleepers: At 5ft x 6ft 6in, the UK king adds 10cm of length over the UK double, welcome if either of you is approaching six foot.
- A firm surface that stays level: The firm feel resists dipping toward the heavier sleeper, so couples with a weight difference each get consistent support on their own side.
- Room-friendly for a couple's upgrade: We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m, a good deal less demanding than what a UK super king needs.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, especially with a firm surface where you settle into a position rather than rolling toward the middle. It also suits you if one of you keeps earlier hours than the other, since the pocket springs and the 75cm of personal width mean less disturbance, or if either partner is tall enough to appreciate the 200cm length.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest, or you sleep alone and the width would go unused. In either case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which fits a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is the Harrison Spinks Oasis 5500 in a UK king good for couples?
Yes, and arguably it suits couples better than most sizes suit most sleepers. You get 75cm of width each, and the pocket spring construction keeps each sleeper's movement on their own side. The firm feel also helps if one of you is heavier, since the surface stays level rather than tilting toward the heavier side.
What room size do I need for the Oasis 5500 UK king?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, which leaves room to walk round the bed and open drawers. That figure is our own guidance rather than anything Harrison Spinks publishes. In a new build master bedroom, measure after accounting for wardrobes: rooms that look generous empty can feel tight once furniture is in.
Is the UK king Oasis 5500 long enough for tall sleepers?
At 200cm long, it gives 10cm more length than the UK double, so anyone around the six foot mark can lie flat without their feet reaching the end. If length is your reason for upgrading, the UK king delivers it without the extra width demands of a UK super king, which is the same 200cm length.
Should I get the Oasis 5500 in a UK king or UK super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider, useful if a child or dog regularly joins you, but it needs a room of at least 3m x 2.9m. For most couples the UK king is the sensible middle ground: 15cm wider than a UK double, yet it still fits a typical master bedroom comfortably.
