- 90cm of width each: Two people sharing get 90cm each, which means you can both stretch out without negotiating over the middle of the bed.
- Distance plus pocket springs: Individually wrapped springs absorb movement locally, and 30cm more width than a UK king puts a restless partner further away in the first place.
- Room for night-time visitors: When a child pads in at 3am, or the dog treats the bed as routine, a super king absorbs the extra body without anyone losing their share.
- Fills a large master properly: In a period property or a generous new build master, a smaller bed can look lost, and the super king sits in proportion with the room.
- The largest standard UK size: At 180cm wide it is the biggest size stocked as standard by UK retailers, so bedding and bases are easy to find off the shelf.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want real distance from a partner who turns a lot, or your household regularly includes children or pets by morning and everyone still needs their own space. It also makes sense if you have a large master bedroom, ideally 3m x 2.9m or more, where a smaller bed would look and feel undersized.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 3m x 2.9m minimum, or you'd struggle to get 180cm of mattress round a landing turn. We'd recommend the UK king instead: 30cm narrower, the same length, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

What size room do I need for the Ortho Plush 1500 in a super king?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m. That's our own guidance rather than a Harrison Spinks figure, and it allows walking space on both sides plus room for wardrobe doors and drawers to open. In a tighter room, the UK king needs less: we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for that size.
How much bigger is a super king than a king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and the two sizes are the same length. That extra width is where the difference lives: it turns a comfortable bed for two into one where a third small occupant, child or dog, doesn't push anyone to the edge.
Is the Ortho Plush 1500 super king good for restless couples?
It's a strong pairing. The pocket spring construction means each spring compresses independently, so a partner's movement travels less across the bed, and 90cm each for two people sharing means much of it happens too far away to notice. Distance does what no comfort layer can.
What are the dimensions of the Ortho Plush 1500 super king?
It measures 180 x 200cm, which is 6ft x 6ft 6in. That's 45cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double, so check the practical stuff before ordering: stair turns, door swing and where the bed frame will sit. The prices shown on this page update as retailers change them.
Will a super king fit up my stairs?
Usually, but measure first. A 180cm-wide mattress is awkward on a tight landing turn or through a narrow loft conversion doorway, and in a sloped-ceiling room the pitch often dictates which wall the bed can take. Measure the tightest turn on the route before you commit to this size.
