- Room for two, sized for real bedrooms: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double fits comfortably in rooms where a UK king would leave you squeezing past the footboard.
- 67.5cm each for two people sharing: That's the shared-width figure to keep in mind: cosy rather than sprawling, and enough for most couples who sleep fairly close.
- Pocket springs help when you share: Individually pocketed springs respond to each body separately, which means less disturbance when your partner turns over in the night.
- A medium feel that suits mixed sleepers: Medium tension works for couples who don't sleep the same way, particularly where one of you is a side sleeper and the other prefers their back.
- Easy to dress, easy to replace: Double sheets and 200 x 200cm duvets are stocked everywhere at every price, useful if you're furnishing a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your bedroom is a typical UK size, somewhere around the 2.6m x 2.8m minimum we suggest, or you sleep alone and want proper space to stretch out. It also makes sense if you're kitting out a guest room for visiting couples, or a first flat where the bed has to leave space for a wardrobe and drawers.
Consider another size if...
Either of you regularly wakes on the very edge, or your room comfortably clears 2.7m x 2.9m and you'd value the extra space. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, and we'd recommend it for restless couples.

Is the ultra plush 4500 double big enough for two adults?
It works for most couples, with the usual caveat: 67.5cm each for two people sharing is cosy. The pocket springs help, since each side responds independently and you'll feel less of a partner's movement. If one of you is broad-shouldered or restless, the Harrison Spinks Ultra Plush 4500 also comes in a UK king and UK super king.
What room size do I need for the ultra plush 4500 in a UK double?
Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which is our guidance rather than the manufacturer's, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves walking space and, in most layouts, room for bedside tables on both sides. In an older terrace or a compact new build, the UK double usually fits where a UK king would not.
Should I get the ultra plush 4500 in a double or a king?
It comes down to your room and how you sleep. The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, so it suits rooms below the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for the larger size. Couples who like space apart, or anyone approaching six feet tall, will appreciate the UK king's extra length.
How big is the ultra plush 4500 double in feet and inches?
It measures 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, or 135 x 190cm in metric. Measure your room in the same units before ordering, and remember the bed frame will add a few centimetres on each side beyond the mattress itself.
What bedding fits the ultra plush 4500 in a UK double?
Standard double fitted sheets for the 135 x 190cm mattress, paired with a 200 x 200cm double duvet. This is the most widely stocked bedding size in the UK, so you'll find options at every price, a genuine saving if you're spreading a budget across a whole home.
