- Bamboo Memory Foam. A bamboo-infused memory foam layer moulds around your shape, which means built-up pressure on hips and shoulders is eased and aches are relieved. The bamboo adds breathability, helping to dispel heat and moisture.
- High Density Foam. A durable, cushioning layer of high density foam sits beneath the memory foam, adding comfort. It also helps reduce motion transfer, so you feel less of a partner's movement.
- Pocket Springs. 1000 pocket springs respond individually to each area of your body, which means personalised support rather than a one-feel-fits-all base. They also cut down motion transfer between partners.

- Room to spread out alone: The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single, which means a solo sleeper can starfish without a shoulder hanging off the edge.
- Fits the awkward rooms: At 15cm narrower than a UK double, this size suits box rooms, studios and loft conversions where a bigger frame would block walking space.
- A softer top at 4ft: The bamboo memory foam layer contours across the full 120cm width, so a solo sleeper who moves around finds pressure relief wherever they settle.
- Copes with occasional sharing: The 1000 pocket springs respond to each body separately, so a couple staying the odd night feels less of each other's movement despite the tighter width.
- Easy to dress: 4ft is a standard UK size, so small double fitted sheets are simple to find, and a standard double duvet drapes generously over it.
This size suits you if...
You're a solo adult, or a teenager who has outgrown a single, and you want proper stretching room in a bedroom that can't spare the extra 15cm a UK double demands. It also makes sense for a guest room or holiday let second bedroom, where couples stay occasionally rather than nightly and floor space matters more than sleeping width.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed every night, because 120cm gets tight for two adults over the long term. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which is 15cm wider; allow a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is the Horizon Adventurer 1000 small double big enough for a couple?
For occasional nights, yes. The pocket springs limit how much you feel a partner moving, which helps on a narrower mattress. For nightly sharing, 120cm leaves each of you less width than a UK single would, so most couples find it cramped over time. As a guest bed for visiting pairs, it's a sensible choice.
What room size do I need for a small double mattress?
We suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for a UK small double. That allows space to open the door, walk down one side of the bed and fit a bedside table. If your room is smaller than this, measure carefully before ordering; the 120cm width is often what decides whether the layout works.
How much bigger is the small double than the single in this mattress?
The UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single, and both are the same 190cm length. That extra width is the whole point of this size: a solo sleeper gets genuine room to roll and spread out without stepping up to the footprint of a full double.
What bedding fits the Horizon Adventurer 1000 in a small double?
You'll need small double (4ft) fitted sheets to match the 120 x 190cm mattress, and the 25cm depth is standard, so most fitted sheets will tuck under without a fight. A standard double duvet works well on top, hanging a little further down each side than it would on a double frame.
Is a small double a good size for a teenager's room?
Often, yes. It suits a teenager who has outgrown a single but whose room can't lose the floor space a UK double takes. The medium firm feel of this mattress supports a growing back, and the bamboo memory foam top adds a little give. Lightweight side sleepers may find it slightly firm at the shoulder.
