Ikea Hovag Pocket Sprung Super King Mattress
The Ikea Hovag is a pocket sprung mattress, which means each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and moves independently, so you should feel less of your partner's tossing and turning than you would on a traditional open coil.

Key benefits
- 90cm of width each: Two people sharing get 90cm each, which means you can both stretch out without negotiating over the middle of the bed.
- Distance plus pocket springs: Individually wrapped pocket springs already soften the ripple of a partner turning over, and at this width there's simply more mattress between you to absorb it.
- Room for night-time visitors: If children or a large dog treat your bed as theirs too, 180cm of width means everyone still gets a workable share of the surface.
- Big-bed space without the big-bed spend: The Hovag sits at the budget end of the pocket spring market, so moving up to the largest standard size is less of a financial leap than with most brands.
- 6ft by 6ft 6in: In imperial terms that's a full 6ft x 6ft 6in of sleeping surface, the same length as a UK king but 30cm wider.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the most sleeping space you can buy as standard, your partner tosses and turns and you've learned that distance matters more than any comfort layer, or children and pets join you often enough that a smaller bed feels crowded. Your bedroom should measure at least 3m x 2.9m, and closer to 3.5m x 3.2m will feel more comfortable.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 3m x 2.9m we suggest, or the bed would dominate the room. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 30cm narrower, the same length, and needs a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

FAQ's
Is the Ikea Hovag super king big enough for two restless sleepers?
It's about as good as it gets. You each have 90cm of width, roughly a single bed's worth of space per person, and the pocket springs move independently so less motion travels across the mattress. The combination of physical distance and independent springs is what makes a restless partner easier to sleep through.
What's the difference between the Ikea Hovag UK king and UK super king?
Width only. The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and the two are the same length at 200cm. That extra 30cm is the difference between comfortable and generous for two adults, and it matters most if children or pets share the bed regularly.
Will the Ikea Hovag UK super king fit in my bedroom?
We suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m, and around 3.5m x 3.2m feels right, leaving space to walk round the bed, open drawers and swing the door. Check your landing and stair turns too: a 180 x 200cm mattress is an awkward carry in narrower period properties.
Does the Ikea Hovag super king suit families sharing with children or pets?
Yes, this is the size we'd point family co-sleepers towards. At 180cm wide, a child wandering in at 3am doesn't mean someone ends up clinging to the edge, and a large dog can claim the foot of the bed without crowding anyone. Smaller sizes make that arrangement much harder.
Where can I buy the Ikea Hovag in a UK super king?
Compare the retailers listed on this page. The prices shown here are live and updated as retailers change them, so it's worth checking back before you commit. One caution that applies to every size of the Hovag: there are no published details on firmness or spring count, so read the listing carefully.
