Layer Details
eOlus fibre
An innovative fibre that provides a foam-like comfort layer, which means you get some surface cushioning without trapped heat or moisture.
Polywool
This blend combines the breathability of wool with the durability of polyester, so the comfort layer should hold its shape over time.
Dual density layers
Two densities of filling work together to provide support beneath the softer comfort layers.
British wool
Naturally breathable and temperature regulating, which means a cooler night if you tend to overheat.
Sustainable recycled fibres
Recycled fibres add resilience and support, a slightly greener choice than virgin materials.
Pocket springs
Hypnos' ReActive 6-turn pocket springs promote spinal alignment and relieve pressure, adjusting individually to your body rather than moving as one unit.

- Fits the typical UK bedroom: At 135 x 190cm, this size leaves room for a wardrobe and drawers where a UK king would crowd the walls.
- Bedside tables on both sides: Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m and most rooms will still take a table each side, which matters more than you'd think when sharing.
- Extra firm holds up when shared: The ReActive 6-turn pocket springs adjust to each sleeper individually, so one partner turning over disturbs the other less than a surface that moves as one.
- Cool for two: British wool and eOlus fibre breathe naturally, useful when two bodies share 135cm of bed and the temperature climbs.
- Easy to dress: Standard double sheets and duvets are sold everywhere at every price, a small saving that adds up if you're furnishing a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your room sits comfortably above our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum, or you sleep alone and want space to stretch out, perhaps with a dog or cat who has claimed a corner. It also suits a guest room that hosts visiting couples, where an extra firm feel offends nobody and 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in fits without squeezing.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like room to sprawl, or one of you is tall, since 67.5cm each can feel snug. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer, and we suggest allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

How big is the Hypnos Bespoke Amber in a UK double?
It measures 135 x 190cm, which is 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, with a depth of 23cm. That's the standard UK double footprint, so any double bed frame, sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet will fit without hunting for special sizes.
Is the UK double Hypnos Bespoke Amber big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. You get 67.5cm each for two people sharing, and because the mattress is extra firm you won't roll towards each other the way you might on a softer bed. Taller or restless partners may prefer the UK king, which is 15cm wider and 10cm longer.
What room size do I need for a double Hypnos Bespoke Amber?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides and, in most rooms, a bedside table each. If your bedroom is smaller, the UK small double is 15cm narrower and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it.
Is the Hypnos Bespoke Amber double a good guest room mattress?
It's a sensible guest room size, since a UK double accommodates visiting couples as well as solo guests. One caveat: this is an extra firm mattress, a solid surface rather than a cushioned one, so it suits guests who like proper firmness more than those expecting a soft, sink-in feel.
Should I choose the double or king Hypnos Bespoke Amber?
The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, but it fits comfortably where a king would dominate the room. Choose the UK double if your bedroom is close to our 2.6m x 2.8m minimum; size up if you have at least 2.7m x 2.9m and want the extra width.
