- Cover. A fire-resistant, chemical-free unbleached cotton ticking. This means the surface achieves its fire safety without added chemical treatments, which some sleepers prefer for a more natural sleeping environment.
- Fillings. Red Tractor-assured wool, latex and polycotton. The wool helps regulate temperature through the night, while latex adds a slightly springy, resilient feel that resists forming body impressions.
- Springs. ReActivePro 9-turn pocket springs, with 1,800 in the king size. Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and moves independently, which means support that follows your shape and less motion transferring across the bed.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 1,800 pocket springs across the width: The king size holds 1,800 ReActivePro 9-turn pocket springs, so each sleeper gets support that follows their own shape rather than a shared, sagging middle.
- Less disturbance on different schedules: Because each spring moves independently, an early alarm on one side transfers less movement to the other, useful when one of you leaves hours before the other.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, so anyone approaching six foot stops sleeping with their feet at the edge.
- Firm support for getting in and out: The firm and extra firm tensions give a stable edgeful surface to push against, which helps if injury or surgery makes rising from bed harder.
- Cooler sharing at this width: Wool and latex fillings shed heat better than foam, and 75cm each means two warm bodies aren't pressed together all night.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel like a negotiation, especially if one of you keeps different hours or the dog has claimed a permanent spot at your feet. It also fits if either of you is approaching six foot, since the 200cm length of a UK king is a genuine change from a standard double, or if you want a firm, traditionally built mattress at a proper couples' width.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum for a UK king. Hypnos only lists this mattress in the UK king, so if you need something smaller, you'll need a different mattress rather than a different size.

How many springs does the Hypnos Bespoke Crystal have in a UK king?
The UK king contains 1,800 ReActivePro 9-turn pocket springs. Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and compresses on its own, so across a 150cm width two sleepers each get support matched to their weight and position rather than a surface that moves as one piece.
Is the Hypnos Bespoke Crystal UK king good for couples who disturb each other?
It's a strong fit for that problem. The 1,800 independent pocket springs limit how far movement travels across the bed, and 75cm of width each means you're less likely to be in each other's space to begin with. If one of you gets up hours before the other, both things help.
What room size do I need for the Hypnos Bespoke Crystal in a UK king?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable. In a new build master bedroom, measure after accounting for wardrobes and door swing, as these rooms often shrink in practice. The mattress itself is 150 x 200cm, or 5ft x 6ft 6in.
Is the UK king long enough for someone over six foot?
At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than a standard UK double, and for most people around or a little over six foot that extra length is the difference between fitting and overhanging. If you're well beyond six foot, lie on one in a showroom before committing, since 200cm is the maximum length Hypnos lists here.
Does the Hypnos Bespoke Crystal come in sizes other than a UK king?
No, only the UK king is currently listed. That suits couples upgrading from a double, but there's no smaller or larger option if your room or budget points elsewhere. Compare the retailers listed on this page for the UK king; prices shown here are updated as retailers change them.
