- Knitted cover. A soft knitted top designed to enhance airflow and breathability. It adds a cosy, slightly plush first impression when you lie down.
- Luna Fusion Cool Memory Foam. A 2cm layer of open cell memory foam, which means it lets heat escape more readily than standard memory foam while still moulding to your shape. It provides that gentle, cradled feel memory foam is known for.
- Reflex Foam. Two 3cm layers of supportive foam that mould to your body and help keep your spine aligned. This is the transition zone between the soft top and the springs below.
- Mini Pocket Springs. Small, individually cased springs that add a layer of fine-tuned pressure relief and reduce motion transfer, which means less disturbance when a partner shifts in the night.
- Luna Pocket Springs. Full-size steel springs sewn into individual fabric pockets, each responding independently to your weight and movement. This is the mattress's main support system, keeping your body properly aligned.

- A gentle feel for lighter sleepers: The soft to medium surface lets a child's or teenager's lighter frame actually sink into the gel memory foam rather than lying on top of it.
- Fits where space is tight: At 90cm wide, this single leaves room for a desk, wardrobe and toy storage in a child's bedroom, or two beds with a walkway between them.
- Full-spec build in the smallest size: You get the same two-layer pocket spring system and gel memory foam as the larger sizes, so a single sleeper isn't getting a cut-down version.
- Cooler for warm-sleeping teens: Open cell memory foam and the breathable knitted cover let heat escape more readily than standard foam, useful in small rooms that warm up quickly.
- Cheap, easy bedding: Standard single sheets and a 135 x 200cm single duvet fit, and both are the most widely stocked bedding of any UK size.
This size suits you if...
You're furnishing a child's or teenager's room and want a proper spring-and-foam build rather than a basic foam slab, you're a lighter solo adult in a compact room or first flat where a bigger bed would swallow the floor, or you're setting up a spare room, perhaps with two singles so guests aren't forced to share.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who shares the bed, or you simply want more room to spread out. We'd recommend the UK double instead: it's 45cm wider than the UK single at the same length, and we suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is the Luna 4000 UK single a good choice for a child's bedroom?
Yes, with one caveat. The soft to medium feel works well for lighter bodies, letting shoulders and hips settle in gently, and the 90 x 190cm footprint leaves space for a desk and storage in a typical child's room. The caveat: very young children are usually better on a firmer surface, so it suits older children and teens best.
Will the Luna 4000 single fit a bunk bed or mid sleeper?
The 90 x 190cm footprint matches standard UK bunk and mid sleeper frames, so the width and length are fine. The thing to check is depth: this mattress is 25cm deep, and some raised frames set a maximum mattress depth so the safety rail stays high enough. Check your frame's guidance before buying.
What room size do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which is our own guidance rather than Luna's. That gives you room to walk alongside the bed and open drawers or wardrobe doors. In a loft conversion or box room, the single's narrow footprint is often the only size that leaves usable space.
Is the UK single long enough for a tall teenager?
At 190cm long, the UK single suits most teens comfortably, and it's the same length as the UK small double and UK double. If your teenager is very tall, the UK king is 10cm longer, although it's also 60cm wider and needs a much bigger room: we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.
Does the Luna 4000 single work in a spare room?
It's a sensible guest room pick, particularly if the room doubles as an office or you want two singles rather than one double so visiting friends or siblings don't have to share. The softer feel is a slight gamble for occasional guests who prefer firm, but for a few nights most people find it comfortable.
