- SnowTencel Sleep Surface. A soft, cool-to-the-touch cover, which means the bed feels refreshing when you first lie down rather than clammy. It's also hypoallergenic and resistant to pilling, so the surface should stay smooth over time.
- Cushioning Bamboo & Wool Layer. Bamboo and wool are naturally breathable fibres, so this layer helps regulate temperature through the night. It also adds a cosy, cushioned feel just beneath the cover.
- HexaGrid Adaptive Memory Foam Layer. A responsive memory foam that adapts quickly as you move, which means targeted support rather than the slow, sinking feel of traditional foam. Handy if you change position often.
- 3000 ErgoCoil Steel Pocket Springs. Each of the 3,000 springs sits in its own fabric pocket and moves independently, which means precise pressure relief where your body needs it. It also limits motion transfer if you share the bed.

- A shared size that fits most rooms: At 135cm wide, it gives a couple a proper bed without swallowing the bedroom, and we suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
- 67.5cm each for two sharing: Two people get 67.5cm each, which is workable for most couples, helped by pocket springs that limit how much you feel a partner move.
- Springs that suit sharing at this width: Each of the 3,000 pocket springs moves independently, so at the closer quarters of a UK double a restless partner disturbs you less.
- Room for bedside tables on both sides: In an average bedroom the 135cm width usually leaves space for a table each side, something a UK king can rule out.
- Easy to dress: Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet fit, and both are stocked everywhere at every price point.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed most nights and your bedroom is a typical UK size, where a wider mattress would crowd the walkways or force out a bedside table. It also fits a guest room that hosts visiting couples, or a solo sleeper who wants space to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner at the foot of the bed.
Consider another size if...
You have a bigger room, or you and your partner keep bumping elbows at 67.5cm each. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer, giving 75cm each, and we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Origin Hybrid in a UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, which is the traditional UK standard, and the 3,000 pocket springs respond to each sleeper separately, so movement carries less across the mattress. Taller sleepers should note the 190cm length, though: anyone over about six foot may prefer the extra 10cm a UK king offers.
What room size do I need for the Origin Hybrid UK double?
We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides and, in most rooms, a bedside table each side too. Measure with your wardrobe and drawers in place rather than the empty room, especially in a first flat where furniture arrives all at once.
Should I buy the Origin Hybrid in a UK double or a UK king?
It comes down to your room. The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, and gives 7.5cm less width each for two sharing. If your bedroom meets our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king and you both like space, size up. In a smaller room, the UK double keeps the space usable.
Does the Origin Hybrid come in a size smaller than a UK double?
No. The UK double is the smallest size available, with the UK king and UK super king above it. There's no UK single or UK small double, so for a child's room or a compact spare room you'd need a different mattress. As a guest bed for visiting couples, though, the UK double is the sensible pick of the range.
Is a UK double a good choice for a guest room?
Yes, and it's arguably the ideal guest size: a couple can share it comfortably at 67.5cm each, a solo guest gets plenty of room, and the 135 x 190cm footprint leaves space for a wardrobe and drawers in a modest second bedroom. Double bedding is also the easiest to buy, so dressing the bed stays cheap and simple.
