- Quilted cover with ProShield® and SmarTex® treatment. A quilted cover treated with ProShield to repel allergens, which is helpful if dust mites or allergies disturb your sleep. The SmarTex treatment wicks away moisture and helps regulate temperature through the night.
- MemorySense® ComfortCore™. A memory foam layer that cradles to your unique shape, which means the mattress moulds around your body contours rather than pushing back against them. The result is a cushioned, calming feel as you settle in.
- Geltex. A supremely breathable foam with an open-cell structure, which means heat can escape rather than building up around you. It also provides a soft bounce back, so you won't feel stuck in the mattress.
- Cooling mesh. A mesh layer that reduces irritation from moisture build up. It works alongside the breathable foam above to keep the sleep surface fresher.
- Interior base plank. A plank within the base that provides additional support while still allowing air to flow through the mattress. This gives the softer comfort layers a stable foundation.
- AlignSupport® Coil Springs. Sealy's Posturepedic coil spring system senses and responds to your body weight, which means your spine is kept aligned whatever position you sleep in. The springs are twice tempered, so they hold their responsive nature over time.

- Room to share, space to walk round: At 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double leaves most bedrooms with space for bedside tables on both sides, which a UK king often steals.
- 67.5cm each for two sharing: Two people get 67.5cm of width apiece, enough for couples who sleep close, and the memory foam cushions each side to its own shape.
- A soft feel that suits sharing: The AlignSupport springs respond to each sleeper's body weight separately, so a lighter partner isn't rolled towards a heavier one on the shared surface.
- Cooling matters more when there are two of you: Two bodies raise the temperature under one duvet, and the Geltex layer's open-cell structure lets that heat escape rather than trap it between you.
- Easy to dress: Standard double sheets fit, though the 33cm depth means you'll need deep fitted ones, so check the pocket depth before buying bedding.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your bedroom won't comfortably take a UK king, or you sleep alone and want proper room to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also makes sense for a guest room that hosts visiting couples, since the soft, cradling feel is forgiving for guests you can't ask about firmness preferences.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like space and your room measures at least 2.7m x 2.9m. In that case we'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double.

What are the dimensions of the Sealy Elevate Ultra Performance Gel in a UK double?
It measures 135 x 190cm, which is 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in. Bear in mind the 33cm depth too: this is a tall mattress, so it will sit noticeably high on a standard base and needs deep fitted sheets. One owner found a lower bed base worked better with it.
How much space do two people get on a UK double?
Two people sharing get 67.5cm of width each. That's fine for couples who sleep close, and the memory foam layer moulds to each person individually rather than creating one shared dip. If either of you sprawls, or you're regularly joined by children or pets, the UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer.
Will a UK double fit my bedroom with bedside tables on both sides?
Usually, yes, and that's much of this size's appeal. We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves space for a table each side and room to walk round, where sizing up to a UK king can leave one partner squeezing past the wall.
Is the UK double Sealy Elevate difficult to get upstairs?
It's a substantial mattress: 33cm deep with a coil spring core, so it won't roll or fold the way an all-foam mattress might. If you live in an older terrace with a turning staircase or a new build with a tight landing, measure the awkward points before ordering, as the UK double's 135cm width has to make those corners.
Is the medium soft feel right for couples of different weights on a double?
It copes better than many soft mattresses, because the twice tempered AlignSupport springs respond to each sleeper's body weight, keeping both spines aligned rather than letting the heavier partner sink the shared surface. That said, heavier back and stomach sleepers may still find the overall feel too yielding, and 67.5cm each leaves little room to shift away from a partner's dip.
