Layer Details
- Soft Touch Quilted Cover. A quilted fabric finish that gives a smooth, breathable sleep surface. It adds a touch of softness before you reach the foam beneath.
- Memory Foam. This comfort layer reacts to your body's contours, which means it cushions key pressure points like hips and shoulders. You get a personalised sleeping surface that adapts as you move.
- 7-Zone Support System. The base layer delivers enhanced support to different areas of the body. In practice, that helps keep your natural alignment from head to toe.

- A shared size that fits the room: At 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double leaves space for wardrobes and drawers where a UK king would dominate.
- 67.5cm each for two sharing: Two people get 67.5cm of width each, which works well here because memory foam absorbs movement rather than bouncing it across to your partner.
- Zoned support for two different bodies: The 7-zone system supports each sleeper's shape independently, so a lighter partner and a heavier one each get their own alignment.
- Room for bedside tables both sides: We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which in most doubles still allows a table on each side of the bed.
- Easy to dress and to manoeuvre: Standard double bedding is stocked everywhere, and a 20cm all-foam mattress flexes around turning stairs and tight landings better than a sprung one.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the traditional couples' size, or you sleep alone and like room to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also suits a guest room that hosts visiting couples, where the medium firm feel is a safe middle ground for people you can't ask about firmness preferences.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner keep waking each other, or one of you is broad shouldered and 67.5cm each feels tight. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which is 15cm wider and 10cm longer; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Silentnight 7 Zone in a UK double big enough for a couple?
Yes, for most couples. The UK double gives 67.5cm of width each for two people sharing, and because memory foam damps movement, a restless partner disturbs you less than on a sprung mattress. If either of you is tall or broad, the UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length.
What room size do I need for the Silentnight 7 Zone double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows walking space on both sides and, in most rooms, bedside tables too. This is our own guidance rather than Silentnight's, so measure your room including door swing before you commit.
Will the double version get up the stairs in an older house?
It should manage better than most. At 135cm wide and 20cm deep, this all-foam mattress will flex around turning staircases in older terraces and tight new build landings more readily than a sprung double of the same size. Two people carrying it still makes life easier.
Is the UK double a good choice for a guest room?
A sensible one. It hosts visiting couples comfortably, fits alongside the storage a spare room usually holds, and the medium firm feel suits a wide range of guests. Dedicated side sleepers who are lightweight may find it a little firm, but for occasional use that matters less.
Would a solo sleeper be better with the double or the single?
The UK double is 45cm wider than the UK single at the same length, so a solo sleeper gets generous room to spread out, or share with a pet. If your room is small, the single needs just 2.1m x 2.8m by our guidance, though the extra width is hard to give up once you've had it.
