- Damask cover. A finely woven, durable fabric that feels soft to the touch, which means the firmness underneath isn't harsh against your skin. It doesn't retain heat, so it helps keep the surface cool.
- Eco Comfort Fibre. A layer of fibres made from recycled materials that gives cushioning comfort over the springs. It also helps evaporate body heat, which means a cooler night if you tend to run warm.
- Miracoil Springs. Silentnight's own open coil system with separate support zones that support the spine and distribute your weight evenly. In practice, that means firmer support where you're heaviest and less pressure on hips and shoulders.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Room to be ignored: With 90cm each for two people sharing, a partner who tosses and turns is simply further away, which matters more here because open coil springs carry some movement.
- Firm support across the full width: The Miracoil zoned springs keep the surface level edge to edge, so a child or dog joining you at 3am doesn't tip anyone into a dip.
- Cool at scale: The Eco Comfort Fibre layer helps evaporate body heat, useful when three bodies or a large dog share 180cm of mattress on a warm night.
- Fills a big master properly: In a large or period bedroom a smaller bed can look lost; at 6ft wide this size holds its own, provided you allow at least 3m x 2.9m.
- A firm feel that suits sharing: Extra firm support means less roll-together than a softer mattress, so each of you stays on your own side of the 180cm width.
This size suits you if...
You share every night and want the maximum mainstream sleeping space, especially if one of you is genuinely restless and distance matters more than any comfort layer. It also suits families whose children or pets treat the bed as communal, since 90cm each leaves room to absorb a visitor, and anyone with a large master bedroom where a UK king would look undersized.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 3m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK super king, or you'd rather not pay super king bedding prices. We'd recommend the UK king instead: 30cm narrower, the same length, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Silentnight Amsterdam super king big enough for a couple and a child?
It's the best-placed size for it. Two adults get 90cm each, so when a child wanders in during the night there's genuine space to absorb them rather than everyone squeezing up. The firm Miracoil springs also keep the surface level, so a small extra body doesn't create a dip everyone rolls towards.
What room size do I need for the Amsterdam in a UK super king?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, which is our own guidance rather than Silentnight's. That allows walking space on both sides and room for doors and drawers to open. Before ordering, check the awkward points too: door swing into the room and any tight landing turns on the way up.
Should I get the Silentnight Amsterdam in a UK king or a UK super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and the two are the same length, so this is purely a width decision. If one of you is restless, or children and pets share regularly, the extra 30cm is what buys the peace. If your room is under 3m wide, the UK king is the sensible pick.
Will I feel my partner moving on the super king Amsterdam?
Miracoil is an open coil system, and open coils do carry some movement across the mattress compared with pocket springs. The super king's answer is distance: with 90cm each, your partner's turning happens further from you than on any smaller size, which softens the effect more than a comfort layer would.
Do I need special bedding for a super king mattress?
You'll need super king sheets and a 260 x 220cm duvet, and both cost more than king equivalents, so factor that into the total. The Amsterdam is 24cm deep, which most standard super king fitted sheets accommodate comfortably. Buying a full set alongside the mattress avoids a first night on the wrong sheets.
