Key benefits
- Leaves floor space for everything else: The UK single is 90cm wide, which means the bed takes up less of a small bedroom and leaves space for toy storage and a desk.
- Room for a growing child to stretch out: The 190cm length, or 6ft 3in, gives most children and teenagers enough room to sleep without their feet reaching the end.
- Copes with a child's room: The waterproof finish handles spilt drinks, and the hypoallergenic fillings suit a bedroom where you want to keep allergens down.
- Firm, level support: Silentnight rates it firm, which means a child sits on the surface rather than sinking into it, and the quilted top softens that slightly.
- Easy to dress: Standard single sheets fit, and a single duvet at 135 x 200cm covers the UK single comfortably.
This size suits you if...
You're furnishing a child's or teenager's bedroom where the bed has to share the floor with a desk and a wardrobe, you need a firm, wipeable mattress that can cope with spills, or your spare room also serves as a study and only has space for a narrow guest bed.
Consider another size if...
Your child likes a soft, sinking bed, or the bunk or cabin bed you're buying for has a maximum mattress depth below 23cm. Silentnight only makes this mattress in a UK single.

FAQ's
Will the Silentnight Believe kids' single mattress fit a bunk bed?
It measures 90 x 190cm, the standard UK single footprint, so it should fit most single bunk frames. The deciding figure is the 23cm depth. Bunks and mid sleepers often set a maximum mattress depth to keep the safety rail high enough, so check the frame maker's guidance against 23cm before you buy.
How big does a bedroom need to be for a UK single bed?
We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space for a UK single. That leaves enough room to get in and out of bed and open drawers. In a loft conversion with a sloping ceiling, place the bed so a child can still sit up at the head end.
Is a UK single long enough for a teenager?
A UK single is 190cm long, which is 6ft 3in. That gives most teenagers room to lie flat without their feet hanging over the end. A very tall teenager may find it a little short, so measure them before choosing this mattress for a bed they'll keep for years.
What bedding fits the Silentnight Believe single mattress?
Standard UK single sheets fit the 90 x 190cm surface, and a single duvet at 135 x 200cm gives good coverage. Single bedding is the most widely stocked size, which helps when you're buying spares for a child's bed that needs frequent changes.
Is the Silentnight Believe UK single a good choice for a guest room?
It can work in a guest room, especially one that also serves as a study, because a UK single leaves space for a desk. Keep in mind that Silentnight designs it as a children's mattress and rates it firm, so adult guests who prefer a soft bed may find it a little too solid.
