Layer Details
- Memory foam. A 30mm layer of memory foam sits on top and responds to your natural body heat. In practice this means it softens where you're warmest and moulds to your shape, giving that gentle, hugged-in feel memory foam is known for.
- Miratex foam. Beneath the memory foam, Miratex foam provides support right up to the edge of the mattress, so you can use the full sleeping surface. Its movement absorption also eliminates roll together, which means you and a partner stay on your own sides rather than sinking towards the middle.
Layer details from mattressman.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 75cm each for two sharers: Each of you gets 75cm of width, so you can spread out, change position or prop up pillows without brushing against your partner.
- Different schedules, less disturbance: Miratex foam absorbs movement, and the UK king's extra width adds physical distance, so an early alarm on one side is far less likely to wake the other.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, which matters if either of you is approaching six foot and tired of feet hanging off the end.
- Edge support across a wider surface: Support runs right to the edge, so all 150cm of width is usable sleeping space rather than a soft border you avoid.
- Memory foam without crowding: The 30mm memory foam layer moulds around each of you individually, and with 75cm apiece you each get your own cradled patch rather than sharing one dip.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK double leaves you nudging elbows, one of you gets up hours before the other and you want distance as well as motion absorption between you, or one partner is tall enough that the 10cm of extra length over a UK double is the real draw.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom falls short of the 2.7m x 2.9m we suggest for a UK king, or you sleep alone. The UK double would suit you better, and we suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

Is the Silentnight Memory 7 Sleep in a UK king big enough for a couple?
Comfortably, for most. You get 75cm of width each, and the Miratex foam layer absorbs movement while eliminating roll together, so you stay on your own sides rather than drifting into the middle. If you share with a dog who claims a stripe of the bed each night, the extra width over a UK double is where you'll feel the difference.
How much bigger is the UK king than the double in this mattress?
The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. The width is what most couples notice night to night, while the length matters if either of you is tall. Since support in this mattress runs to the edge, every centimetre of the larger surface is genuinely usable.
What room size do I need for the Silentnight Memory 7 in a UK king?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, with 3.2m x 3.2m feeling comfortable. Measure with wardrobes and drawers in place, because a new build master bedroom can shrink quickly once furniture goes in. If your room is smaller, the UK double needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m by our guidance.
Is the UK king Memory 7 long enough for someone over 6ft?
At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, it gives most tall sleepers clear room at the foot of the bed. It's 10cm longer than the UK double, so if length rather than width is your reason for upgrading, the UK king delivers it without the room demands of a UK super king.
Should I go for the UK king or super king in this mattress?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, at the same length, and we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m of floor space for it. If your room can take it and you want maximum separation, size up. For most couples, the UK king's 75cm each is enough, and it fits far more bedrooms.
