- Microquilted cover. A quilted cover made with eco-friendly Tencel®, a natural fabric that helps control moisture, so the surface stays drier through the night. It's also a gentle choice if you have sensitive skin.
- Reflex foam. A layer of Reflex foam, a firmer, more responsive alternative to memory foam. You get cushioning without the slow, sinking feel, which suits people who move around in the night.
- Open coil springs. Open coil springs form the support core, with reinforced sprung edges so you can use the full width of the mattress without the sides collapsing. This is what gives the mattress its firm, supportive feel.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- More room each: Each of you gets 75cm, which is 7.5cm more than on a UK double, so a partner who sprawls has a little less chance of ending up on your side.
- Length for taller sleepers: At 200cm long, the UK king is 10cm longer than a UK double, which means a partner over six foot is far less likely to have feet hanging off the end.
- Usable right to the side: Reinforced sprung edges hold firm when you sleep near the side, so you can use the full 150cm width rather than drifting towards the middle.
- Some distance for early risers: If one of you gets up hours before the other, the extra width puts slightly more space between you, although open coil springs still pass some movement across.
- A manageable room footprint: We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m, a smaller footprint than the 3m x 2.9m we suggest for the UK super king.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK double has started to feel cramped, one of you is over six foot and keeps running out of length at the foot end, or your partner's alarm goes off long before yours and you would like a little more distance between you.
Consider another size if...
You are easily woken by a partner turning over, as open coil springs carry movement across the bed. The UK super king would suit you better, giving 90cm each, though it needs at least 3m x 2.9m.

Is the Sleep Story Cool Sleep UK king big enough for two people?
For most couples, yes. The UK king gives you 75cm each, which is 7.5cm more each than the UK double. If you both like to spread out, the UK super king gives 15cm more each again, but it needs a larger room.
Will I feel my partner moving on the Sleep Story Cool Sleep king size?
Probably, a little. Open coil springs move together as one unit, so a partner turning over travels further than it would on pocket springs. The UK king's extra width puts slightly more space between you than a UK double does, but light sleepers may find the UK super king, at 90cm each, a better fit.
Is the Sleep Story Cool Sleep king long enough for someone over 6ft?
At 200cm, or 6ft 6in, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, which gives a tall partner noticeably more room at the foot end. The UK super king is the same length, so there is no need to size up for length alone.
Will a Sleep Story Cool Sleep UK king fit in a new build master bedroom?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king. New build master bedrooms often feel tighter once fitted wardrobes are in, so measure the floor space left after furniture rather than the room itself. If you fall short, the UK double needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
Should I choose the UK king or UK super king in the Sleep Story Cool Sleep?
Both are 200cm long, so the choice comes down to width. The UK super king is 30cm wider, giving you 15cm more each, but we suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m against 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king. Compare the retailers listed on this page for current prices on each.
