Layer Details
- Memory foam. A layer of memory foam that moulds to your shape, which means pressure on your hips and shoulders is eased and your weight is spread more evenly. It also helps absorb movement, so a restless partner is less likely to wake you.
- Pocket springs. Individually pocketed springs, 950 of them in the king size, that respond independently to your body's shape and weight. This gives the firm, orthopaedic-style support the mattress is built around.
Layer details from furniturevillage.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Sized for ordinary bedrooms: At 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, the UK double leaves space for a wardrobe or chest of drawers in rooms where a UK king would take over.
- Less disturbance when sharing: Individually pocketed springs move independently, which means a partner turning over at 67.5cm away is less likely to jolt you awake.
- Firm support for two different bodies: The firm spring unit holds each sleeper up separately, while the memory foam on top softens the feel slightly at hips and shoulders.
- Room for bedside tables: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, and around 3m x 3m lets you fit a bedside table on both sides comfortably.
- Simple to dress: Double sheets fit the 135 x 190cm surface, and a 200 x 200cm double duvet covers it, so bedding for the 27cm depth is easy to find.
This size suits you if...
You share a bed with a partner in a typically sized UK bedroom and want a firm hybrid without losing floor space to a bigger frame, or you're kitting out a guest room where visiting couples need a proper shared bed.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner want more than 67.5cm each, or either of you is tall enough to need extra length. We'd recommend the UK king instead, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Sleepeezee Hybrid Pro Ortho UK double wide enough for two people?
For most couples, yes. The UK double gives 67.5cm each, which feels close but workable. The pocket springs help here, because each spring responds on its own, so one person shifting position is less likely to disturb the other. If you already find a double cramped, extra width will matter more than any spring system.
Will a Sleepeezee Hybrid Pro Ortho double fit in my bedroom with bedside tables?
We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double. That fits the bed with a little room to walk around it. If you want a bedside table on each side and space to open a wardrobe, around 3m x 3m is the more comfortable target.
How much more space does the Sleepeezee Hybrid Pro Ortho king give than the UK double?
The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. For two people sharing, that works out at 7.5cm less each on the UK double. The UK king also needs a bigger room: we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m, against 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.
Is the UK double Sleepeezee Hybrid Pro Ortho too short for tall sleepers?
The UK double is 190cm long, the same as the UK small double and UK single. If either of you tends to hang feet over the end, the UK king is 10cm longer. For most people of average height, 190cm is enough, especially on a firm mattress that doesn't let you sink down the bed.
Is the Sleepeezee Hybrid Pro Ortho double a good choice for a guest room?
It suits a guest room well if you host couples, because the UK double gives two people a proper shared bed without filling a smaller spare room. Bear in mind the firm feel: lightweight guests who sleep on their side may find it a little unyielding, even with the memory foam top.
