Key benefits
- Leaves room for everything else: We suggest a room of at least 2.1m x 2.8m, so a child's bedroom can still fit a wardrobe, a desk and somewhere to keep toys.
- Firm enough for growing backs: The medium-firm pocket springs give steady support to back and combination sleepers, though a light child who sleeps on their side may find it slightly unyielding.
- Two singles for flexible guest rooms: A pair of UK singles lets a spare room host two friends or siblings separately, with a walkway between the beds, rather than asking guests to share.
- Simpler to rotate on your own: It can't be flipped because of the pillow top, but the turning handles and smaller UK single size should make regular rotation a one-person job.
- Standard bedding, with one check: A single duvet and single sheets fit, but choose fitted sheets with pockets deep enough for the 29cm depth so the corners stay put.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child, a teenager or a single adult who sleeps alone, and the bedroom has to make space for storage or a desk too. It also fits well if you're furnishing a spare room or study that sometimes takes a guest.
Consider another size if...
You share your bed most nights or want more room to spread out. We'd recommend the UK small double instead, which is 30cm wider at the same length; allow at least 2.4m x 2.8m.

FAQ's
Will the Spring King Wool Sublime 2000 Pillow Top UK single fit a bunk bed?
Possibly, but check first. The mattress is 29cm deep, which is on the deep side for raised frames. Bunk, cabin and mid-sleeper beds usually state a maximum mattress depth so the guard rail stays high enough to stop a child rolling out. Compare that figure from the frame maker against 29cm before ordering.
What size is the Spring King Wool Sublime 2000 single in feet?
The UK single measures 3ft x 6ft 3in, which is 90 x 190cm. That's the standard UK single, so it should drop into most single bed frames, including the ones supplied in student rooms and furnished flats.
What room size do I need for a UK single mattress?
We suggest a room of at least 2.1m x 2.8m. That leaves space to walk around the bed and open drawers. In a loft conversion, a narrow UK single can often sit under a sloping ceiling where wider beds would leave you bumping your head.
Is a UK single big enough for an adult?
For one adult sleeping alone, usually yes. The UK single is the standard one-person size. If you like to sprawl, the UK small double is 30cm wider at the same length. Taller adults might look at the UK king, which is 10cm longer, though it needs a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
What bedding fits a Spring King Wool Sublime UK single?
Standard single sheets fit, along with a single duvet measuring 135 x 200cm. The one thing to watch is fitted sheet depth: with a 29cm mattress, shallow sheets can ping off at the corners, so look for deep-pocket singles.
