Layer Details
- Sleep Surface. A Belgian damask viscose cover that feels silky against the skin and is highly breathable. That breathability helps create a fresher sleeping environment through the night.
- Comfort Fillings. Silk, cotton, cashmere and sustainably sourced British wool make up the plump comfort layer. Wool in particular is a natural temperature regulator, so this layer adds softness without trapping heat.
- Support System. 2000 pocket springs, each mounted in its own separate fabric pocket. Because they work completely independently, you get targeted support and less disturbance from a partner's movement.
Layer details from mattressnextday.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- More room each: At 75cm per sleeper, the UK king gives each of you 7.5cm more than the UK double, which means less edging towards the side to avoid an elbow.
- Length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, so a partner approaching 6ft can stretch out on firm support without their feet meeting the end.
- Quieter early starts: With 2000 independent pocket springs spread across a wider surface, one partner getting up long before dawn is less likely to jolt the other awake.
- Space for pregnancy pillows: The extra width leaves room for a wedge or body pillow, although the firm feel may press a little at the hip for lighter side sleepers.
- Smaller footprint than a super king: By our guidance the UK king needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m, while the UK super king needs at least 3m x 2.9m.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and have outgrown a UK double, or one of you is tall enough to welcome the extra 10cm of length. You should both also prefer a firm, supportive feel over a soft one.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested minimum of 2.7m x 2.9m. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m and still gives 67.5cm each.

Is the Ortho Brilliance 2000 UK king big enough for two adults?
For most couples, yes. The UK king gives 75cm each, which is 7.5cm more per person than the UK double. If you both spread out, or a dog joins you most nights, the UK super king gives 90cm each, so 15cm more per person than the UK king.
Will a partner's movement wake me on a UK king Ortho Brilliance 2000?
It should disturb you less than a narrower bed. The 2000 pocket springs move independently, and the UK king puts 15cm more width between you than the UK double. That helps if one of you rises hours earlier, although a very restless partner will still be felt a little.
Is the UK king Ortho Brilliance 2000 long enough for a tall person?
It is 200cm long, or 6ft 6in, which is 10cm longer than the UK double. The UK super king is the same length, so if height is your only concern, the UK king gives you that extra length without the wider footprint.
UK king or UK super king Ortho Brilliance 2000: which should I choose?
Go by your room first. We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for the UK king and 3m x 2.9m for the UK super king. The UK super king is 30cm wider, and it suits couples who want real distance between them.
Will a UK king mattress fit in a new build master bedroom?
Measure after the wardrobes are in, because fitted furniture takes more floor space than plans suggest. We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, with 3.2m x 3.2m comfortable if you want bedside tables and space to walk round. The frame will add to the mattress's 150 x 200cm.
