- Covering. A soft-touch fine ticking, hand tufted with felt washers. Tufting anchors the fillings in place, which means the surface stays even rather than developing lumps over time.
- Fillings. All-natural British fleece wool and hand-teased Devonshire fleece wool. Wool wicks moisture and regulates temperature, so you should feel warmer in winter and cooler in summer than on synthetic fillings.
- Springs. 1326 vanadium steel pocket springs in the king size, with six coils, hand-nested in calico. Each spring moves independently, which means better contouring and less disturbance from a restless partner.

- Room to spread out alone: At 30cm wider than the UK single, you can sleep diagonally or starfish on the soft wool surface without an arm dropping off the edge.
- Fits a tighter bedroom: Being 15cm narrower than the UK double, it can leave enough floor for a wardrobe door to open or a bedside table to stay.
- Suits a loft conversion: Under a sloping ceiling, the slimmer footprint lets you push the bed further from the low side, so you have more room to stand up as you get out.
- Full length for adults: It shares its length with the UK double, so going narrower costs you nothing at your feet.
- Easy to dress: At 4ft x 6ft 3in it is a standard UK size, so small double fitted sheets and frames are easy to find.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and want far more space than a UK single allows, your bedroom is compact but still clears our suggested minimum of 2.4m x 2.8m, or you are furnishing a guest room where couples stay the odd weekend rather than every night.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed with a partner every night. We'd recommend the UK double instead, which gives 67.5cm each; allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m for the UK double.

Can a couple sleep on the Vispring Devonshire UK small double every night?
For a weekend guest stay, yes. For every night, it is tight. The UK small double is 15cm narrower than the UK double, and the UK double gives 67.5cm each. On a soft mattress you will tend to meet in the middle, so nightly sharers should size up.
What room size do I need for a Vispring Devonshire small double?
We suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for a UK small double. That is our own guidance, so measure with the bed frame in mind as well as the mattress. The frame adds to the footprint, and you need space to walk round it.
Vispring Devonshire small double or single for one adult?
If you move around in your sleep, the UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single and exactly the same length, which gives you real space to change position. The UK single only makes sense if your room is short of space; we suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m for it.
Is the Vispring Devonshire UK small double long enough for a tall person?
It is the same length as the UK double, so you give up width but no length. If your feet already reach the end on a standard double, look at the UK king instead: the UK small double is 10cm shorter than the UK king.
What are the Vispring Devonshire small double dimensions in feet?
The UK small double measures 4ft x 6ft 3in, or 120 x 190cm. The mattress is 21 cm deep at every size. That shallow depth means standard small double fitted sheets should go on without a struggle.
