Layer Details
- Soft White Fibres. Soft synthetic fillings topped with a polyester layer, which means a cosy surface feel the moment you lie down. They're inherently breathable, so this comfort layer shouldn't hold onto heat.
- Wool. A generous layer of natural wool fibres gives deep, plush comfort. Wool is naturally temperature-regulating, which means it works all year round, warming in winter and wicking heat in summer.
- Pocket Springs. 3000 traditional pocket springs made from twice tempered steel, which means each spring responds to your body shape independently rather than the whole surface moving as one. The result is strong, personalised support and less partner disturbance.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- A full 90cm each: Two sharers get 90cm of width apiece, which means each of you has roughly a single bed's width of your own rather than meeting in the middle.
- Distance from a restless partner: The 3000 pocket springs move independently, and at this width a partner who tosses about is also physically further away, so you're far less likely to wake.
- 15cm more each than a UK king: The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king and the same length, which gives each sharer 15cm more space without making the bed any longer.
- Room for small visitors: When a child wanders in at 3am or the dog claims the foot of the bed, a UK super king leaves the adults a usable share instead of a thin strip on the edge.
- Wool across a wide surface: The natural wool layer helps regulate temperature, which means a bed shared by several warm bodies is a little less likely to feel stuffy through the night.
- Sized for a large bedroom: In a generous master bedroom or a period property with high ceilings, a UK super king fills the space in proportion, where a UK king can look slightly lost.
This size suits you if...
You share every night with someone who kicks, turns or gets up often, and you'd rather have distance between you than rely on the springs alone. It also suits you if your children or a large dog end up in bed with you most weeks, and your bedroom comfortably clears 3m x 2.9m.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than 3m x 2.9m, or you mainly sleep alone. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m and still gives 75cm each.

Is a UK super king big enough for two adults and a child?
For occasional night visits, yes. Two adults get 90cm each on the UK super king, so a small child can squeeze in without anyone ending up on the edge. If it happens most nights, it's still the most practical mainstream option, because the UK king gives each adult 15cm less.
How much more space does the UK super king give than the UK king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and the two are the same length. For a couple, that works out at 15cm more each: 90cm per person on the UK super king against 75cm on the UK king.
Will a UK super king fit in a loft conversion bedroom?
Only if the full-height floor area is large enough. We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m for a UK super king, and around 3.5m x 3.2m feels right. In a loft, the sloping ceiling usually decides which wall the headboard goes on, so measure the standing-height floor area and make sure you can still get in on both sides.
Is the Wentworth Mercer Deluxe Wool 3000 UK super king good if my partner is a restless sleeper?
It's a sensible choice. The 3000 pocket springs respond to each person separately, so movement on one side travels less to the other. On the UK super king there's also 90cm each between you, and that distance does more for a light sleeper than any comfort layer can on a narrower bed.
Should I get a UK super king if my dog sleeps on the bed?
If a large dog shares the bed as a matter of routine, the UK super king makes sense. The extra 30cm over a UK king is roughly the difference between the dog lying beside your legs and lying across them. Check your room first, though: we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m.
