Layer Details
- Memory foam layer. A memory foam layer sits at the top, which means the surface moulds gently to your body as it warms. This is where the pressure relief comes from.
- Pocket springs. Beneath the foam, 1000 pocket springs form the core of the mattress. Each spring is sewn into its own fabric pocket, so it responds to your weight individually and helps keep movement from travelling across the bed.

- The standard couples' size: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double is the size most UK bedrooms were designed around, so wardrobes and drawers usually still fit.
- 67.5cm each when sharing: Two people get 67.5cm each, enough for most couples, and the 1000 pocket springs help stop one sleeper's movement travelling to the other.
- Modest room needed: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which means bedside tables on both sides remain realistic in an ordinary double bedroom.
- Budget-friendly way to sleep two: A pocket spring core with memory foam on top is a sensible pairing for a shared bed at this price level.
- Easy to dress: Double sheets and 200 x 200cm double duvets are sold everywhere at every price point, handy if you're kitting out a whole home at once.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple in a typical UK bedroom and want the traditional shared size without paying king money, or you're furnishing a first flat or second bedroom where the budget has to stretch across every room. It also suits a guest room that hosts visiting couples, since the memory foam layer cushions different sleepers without anyone adjusting settings or toppers.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like to sprawl, or one of you shares with a pet that claims a corner. The Everyday Arthur in a UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Everyday Arthur UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. The UK double measures 135 x 190cm, which gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing. That's comfortable rather than generous, so if either of you is broad-shouldered or a restless sleeper, the UK king version of this mattress adds 15cm of width.
What room size does the Everyday Arthur UK double need?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, and this is our guidance rather than the manufacturer's. That allows walking space around the bed and, in most rooms, bedside tables on both sides. Around 3m x 3m is the comfortable norm if you also need a wardrobe and drawers.
How much space does each person get on the UK double Everyday Arthur?
67.5cm each for two people sharing. The 1000 pocket springs help here: each spring is sewn into its own fabric pocket and responds to your weight individually, so a partner turning over on their 67.5cm is less likely to disturb you on yours.
How big is the Everyday Arthur in a UK double in feet?
It measures 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in, or 135 x 190cm. That's the same length as the UK single but 45cm wider, and 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet fit it.
Should I buy the Everyday Arthur in a double or size up?
If your room meets our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum but wouldn't stretch to the 2.7m x 2.9m we'd want for a UK king, the UK double is the sensible pick. Sizing up buys 15cm of width and 10cm of length, which mainly matters for tall sleepers or couples who spread out.
