- 90cm of width each: Two people sharing get 90cm each, which means a partner who turns over frequently is far enough away to stop being your problem.
- Pocket springs suit shared beds: The Spare Arthur's pocket springs respond to each body individually, so movement on one side transfers less to the other, useful at a size built for sharing.
- Room for the whole household: When children arrive at 3am or the dog treats the bed as routine, 180cm of width means everyone still gets a genuine share.
- 30cm wider than a UK king: The UK super king matches the UK king for length but adds 30cm of width, and at this price point that extra space stays affordable.
- Medium firm works for two: A medium firm feel sits in the range most sleeping positions get on with, which matters when two people with different preferences share one surface.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the maximum space a standard UK size offers, your room comfortably clears our suggested 3m x 2.9m minimum, or your household includes children or pets who regularly join you and you'd rather add width than lose sleep. It also suits couples where one partner is genuinely restless, since distance does more than any comfort layer can.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested 3m x 2.9m minimum, or the bed would dominate the room and block door swing. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 30cm narrower, the same length, and needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

How big is the Spare Arthur super king mattress?
The Arthur Sleep Spare Arthur in a UK super king measures 180 x 200cm, or 6ft x 6ft 6in. That gives two people sharing 90cm of width each. It's the largest size the Spare Arthur comes in, and the biggest mattress size stocked as standard by UK retailers.
What room size do I need for a super king Spare Arthur?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m for a UK super king, and that's our guidance rather than the manufacturer's. Measure with the door swing and any wardrobes in mind, because at this width the bed takes up floor space a UK king would leave free.
Is the Spare Arthur super king good for couples with children who come in at night?
It's well suited to it. The 180cm width means a child arriving in the small hours can squeeze in without pushing either adult to the edge, and the pocket springs limit how much their fidgeting travels across the bed. If night visits are a fixture in your house, this size handles them better than any smaller option.
Should I get the Spare Arthur in a UK king or a UK super king?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king; both are 200cm long. If your room clears 3m x 2.9m and you share with a restless partner, children or pets, the extra 30cm is the better buy. In a large master bedroom a UK king can look a little undersized anyway.
Will a super king Spare Arthur fit up my stairs?
A 180cm wide mattress is the trickiest standard size to move, so measure your stairwell, landing turns and bedroom door before ordering. Arthur Sleep doesn't publish a depth for the Spare Arthur, which makes it harder to judge tight corners, so allow more clearance than you think you need.
