- Cashmere. A luxuriously soft natural filling that breathes well and wicks moisture, which means less clamminess on warm nights. It sits at the sleep surface for a gentle first feel.
- Wool. Wool is a natural insulator with strong temperature-regulating properties. In practice it helps keep you warm in winter and cooler in summer, making it useful all year round.
- Silk. Silk adds a sumptuous, breathable layer of comfort. It's resilient too, so the surface should keep its feel rather than flattening quickly.
- Mini Pocket Springs. 2,000 small, individually cased springs sit slightly compressed to retain their springiness. They add a responsive comfort layer with soothing pressure relief for hips and shoulders.
- Pocket Springs. 1,000 traditional pocket springs, each encased in its own cloth pocket, react individually to your shape. That means adaptive support and less motion transfer to a partner.

- Fits most UK bedrooms: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double leaves space to walk around the bed where the UK king would start to crowd the room.
- A workable share for couples: Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, enough for most couples on a medium firm surface that limits motion transfer between you.
- Natural fillings across a shared bed: Cashmere, wool and silk breathe and regulate temperature, which matters more with two bodies generating heat under one duvet.
- Easy to dress and replace: Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet fit, both stocked everywhere at every price point.
- Generous solo space: Sleeping alone, the full 4ft 6in width gives you room to spread out, or to share with a pet claiming a corner.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your room suits a standard footprint, you sleep alone but want space to stretch out or make room for a dog who has claimed the foot of the bed, or you're furnishing a guest room that needs to welcome visiting couples without dominating the space.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like room to move, or one of you is tall. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double, and we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Aspire Cashmere and Silk 3000 in a UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. You each get 67.5cm of width, and the 1,000 individually pocketed springs respond to each sleeper separately, so one person turning over disturbs the other less. If either of you sprawls, or you regularly share with children or pets, the extra width of the UK king is a fair upgrade.
What size room do I need for this mattress in a UK double?
We suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows bedside tables on both sides and space to open wardrobe doors. Measure with the furniture you actually own in mind, since a chest of drawers can change the picture quickly.
Should I get the Aspire 3000 in a UK double or a UK king?
The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. Choose the UK double if your room is around the 2.6m x 2.8m mark or you want to keep floor space free. Sizing up makes sense for taller sleepers or couples who feel cramped, provided the room reaches at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
Is the UK double Aspire mattress hard to get upstairs?
Across verified owner reviews this mattress is noted as very heavy, and the 135 x 190cm double is a bulky item on a turning staircase in an older terrace or a tight new build landing. Plan for two people to carry it, and measure any awkward corners on the route before you order.
Is a UK double a good choice for a guest room?
Yes, it's arguably the ideal guest size: visiting couples can share comfortably, solo guests get plenty of space, and the medium firm feel suits a wide range of sleepers you can't predict in advance. Double bedding is cheap and easy to find, which helps when you're kitting out a spare room on a budget.
