Layer Details
- Comfort Layer. Soft white synthetic fibres create a cosy feel at the surface, which means a little cushioning before you reach the firm support beneath. They're durable and resilient, so the layer should hold its shape over time.
- Support System. 1500 individual pocket springs, each encased in its own cloth pocket, adapt to your movement independently. In practice that means personalised support for each part of your body and less disturbance from a partner shifting in the night.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Space that solves restlessness: With 90cm each for two people sharing, distance does what no comfort layer can, and a fidgeting partner becomes easy to ignore.
- Springs that keep movement local: The 1500 pocket springs move independently, which means when someone shifts on their side of this wide surface, you feel very little of it on yours.
- Room for the whole household: When children wander in at night or a large dog treats the bed as routine, a UK super king means nobody ends up clinging to an edge.
- Extra firm across a big footprint: Bodyshape's firmest rating gives a consistent, sturdy surface from edge to edge, so two sleepers of different weights both get proper support wherever they lie.
- Extra length included: At 200cm long, the UK super king gives taller sleepers 10cm more than a UK double, useful when one of you is over six foot.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the most space a standard UK size offers, your children or pets join you often enough that a UK king feels crowded, or one of you is a genuinely restless sleeper and you both want a very firm surface. It also suits larger master bedrooms where a smaller bed would look lost against the wall.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is smaller than the 3m x 2.9m we suggest as a minimum, or you sleep alone. The UK king is 30cm narrower and the same length, and needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m, so we'd recommend that instead.

What room size do I need for a super king Bodyshape Ultra Ortho 1500?
We suggest a room of at least 3m x 2.9m for a UK super king, which leaves enough space to walk around the bed and open drawers. That guidance is ours rather than Bodyshape's. If your room falls short, the UK king needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m and gives up 30cm of width but none of the length.
Is the Bodyshape Ultra Ortho 1500 super king good for couples with children who come in at night?
It is one of the better choices for that situation. The 180cm width gives 90cm each for two people sharing, so a child arriving at 3am squeezes rather than displaces you. The extra firm surface also holds its shape under extra weight, though a small child may find it a little unyielding.
How much bigger is the super king than the king in this mattress?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king, and the two are the same length at 200cm. That extra width is the difference between sharing comfortably and negotiating space, especially with a restless partner. The trade-off is the larger room it needs: we suggest at least 3m x 2.9m.
Will the extra firm feel work for two sleepers of different weights?
Better than most, at this size. The 1500 pocket springs respond to each sleeper independently, so a heavier partner sinking in slightly does not tilt the surface under a lighter one. Lightweight side sleepers may still find it too firm at the shoulder and hip, and the width will not change that.
Where can I buy the Bodyshape Ultra Ortho 1500 in a super king?
Compare the retailers listed on this page; the prices shown here are updated as retailers change them, so what you see reflects current stock. Availability of the UK super king can differ from the smaller sizes, so it is worth checking the live table rather than assuming every retailer carries it.
