Layer Details
- Bamboo Cover. A gentle bamboo fabric cover made from clean, high quality fibres with a hypoallergenic finish. That means less irritation for sensitive skin and allergy sufferers.
- Soft White Fibres. A layer of soft synthetic white fibres that is notably breathable and comforting. It helps air move through the top of the mattress, which you'll feel as a slightly cooler sleep surface.
- Memory Foam. A 2.5cm layer of high density memory foam that adapts around your body. It's a fairly slim layer, so expect a gentle contouring hug rather than a deep sink-in feel.
- Traditional Open Coil Springs. Interlaced springs joined in a lattice design, which distribute your weight evenly to relieve built-up pressure and support spinal alignment. Because the coils are connected, movement does transfer across the bed more than it would with pocket springs.
- Wire Frame Border. A wire frame around the border of the mattress. This helps the edges keep their shape over time.

- Real space for two: At 150 x 200cm, each of you gets 75cm of width, so you can settle into your own position without negotiating territory.
- Distance softens the bounce: Open coils pass movement across the bed, but the wider the mattress, the further you are from a partner who gets up hours before you.
- Length for taller sleepers: The UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, which means anyone approaching six foot stops finding their feet at the edge.
- Room to reposition: During pregnancy or recovery from injury, when you're propping pillows and shifting through the night, the extra width stops every adjustment disturbing whoever's next to you.
- A gentle, breathable feel across a bigger surface: The slim 2.5cm memory foam layer gives a light contouring hug rather than deep sink, so moving around a larger bed stays easy.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel cramped, especially if one of you is restless or keeps different hours. It also fits if either of you is approaching six foot and wants the extra length, or if pregnancy or recovery means frequent repositioning and you need space to do it without waking your partner.
Consider another size if...
Your room is under our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or you sleep alone. In either case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is the Bodyshape Vitality Bamboo in a UK king good for couples?
Yes, with one caveat. The open coil springs are connected, so movement travels across the bed more than pocket springs would allow. The UK king's 150cm width helps: with 75cm each for two people sharing, you're further from your partner's movements, and owners who mention bounce will feel less of it at this size.
What room size do I need for the Bodyshape Vitality Bamboo UK king?
We suggest allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m so you can walk round both sides and open drawers comfortably. New build master bedrooms can be tighter than they first appear once fitted wardrobes go in, so measure the usable floor rather than the room on the plan.
Should I choose the UK king or UK double in this mattress?
The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. Because this mattress transfers some movement between partners, the extra width earns more here than it would on a pocket sprung bed. If your room can't take it, the UK double needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
Is the UK king long enough if my partner is over six foot?
At 200cm, or 5ft x 6ft 6in in old money, it gives 10cm more length than the UK double. For many couples where one partner is tall, the length is the real upgrade rather than the width, so a UK king solves the overhanging feet problem without needing a super king sized room.
Would the UK super king suit us better than the UK king?
If you have the space, possibly. The UK king is 30cm narrower than the UK super king, and both are the same length. The UK super king needs a room of at least 3m x 2.9m, so it suits larger bedrooms, particularly if a dog routinely claims part of the bed. Compare the retailers listed on this page for both.
