- Pocket springs matter most at this width: With 67.5cm each for two people sharing, you sleep fairly close, so springs that compress individually help you feel less of your partner's movement.
- Fits rooms a king would crowd: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, which leaves space for bedside tables on both sides in a typical British bedroom.
- A sensible guest room choice: Visiting couples can share it comfortably, and the footprint still leaves room for a wardrobe and drawers in a spare room.
- Easy to dress cheaply: Double sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet are sold everywhere at every price, useful if you're furnishing a whole home and the budget is stretched.
- Simpler to get upstairs: A 135cm wide mattress turns the stairs of an older terrace or a tight new build landing more easily than a UK king or UK super king.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed most nights and want the traditional couples' size without giving the room over to it, or you sleep alone and want space to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also makes sense if you're kitting out a first flat or a guest room, where the UK double's easy bedding and manageable footprint count for a lot.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both want more personal space than 67.5cm each, and your room can take a bigger bed. We'd recommend the UK king instead: it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer, and we suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for it.

Is the Heritage 3000 in a UK double good for couples?
Yes, with a caveat. At 135cm wide you get 67.5cm each for two people sharing, which is comfortable rather than roomy. The pocket springs help here: each one compresses on its own, so a partner shifting in the night disturbs you less. If you both like to sprawl, the UK king gives you 15cm more width.
What room size do I need for the Heritage 3000 double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That allows the door and drawers to open freely and, in most rooms, leaves space for bedside tables on both sides. If your bedroom is smaller, the UK small double is 15cm narrower and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it.
Will a UK double Heritage 3000 fit up narrow stairs?
It's the most forgiving of the shared sizes. At 135 x 190cm, this mattress is 15cm narrower than the UK king and 45cm narrower than the UK super king, which makes the turn on an older terrace staircase or a tight new build landing noticeably easier. Measure your tightest corner before ordering, as with any mattress.
Is the Heritage 3000 double long enough for tall sleepers?
The UK double is 190cm long, or 6ft 3in. Anyone approaching six foot may find their feet near the edge once a pillow pushes them down the bed. The UK king and UK super king are both 10cm longer, so if height is your main concern, sizing up solves length and width in one move.
What bedding does the Heritage 3000 UK double take?
Standard UK double bedding: double fitted sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet. Both are stocked in every supermarket and department store at every price point, which keeps running costs down. That's handy if you're furnishing several rooms at once, since UK super king bedding in particular tends to cost noticeably more for the same quality.
