- 75cm each for two sleepers: Two people sharing get 75cm of width apiece, which means neither of you is negotiating for space at 3am.
- Pocket springs limit partner disturbance: The 1,000 pocket springs move independently, so if one of you gets up hours before the other, the movement is far less likely to wake them.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, a real difference if either sleeper is approaching six foot.
- Firm support across the full width: The firm feel holds you on top of the surface edge to edge, useful when a couple, or a couple plus a dog, spreads across it.
- A guest bed couples will actually enjoy: If your spare room regularly hosts two visitors, the UK king means they sleep properly rather than politely tolerating a tight squeeze.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple who've outgrown a UK double and want firm support without a luxury price, your guest room regularly hosts two people at once, or one of you is tall enough that the 200cm length matters as much as the width. It also suits sleepers on different schedules, since the pocket springs soften the disruption of one person leaving early.
Consider another size if...
Your room is smaller than our suggested 2.7m x 2.9m minimum, or the bed is mostly for one occasional guest. In either case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which needs a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

Is the Spare Room Ortho UK king big enough for a couple?
Yes, comfortably. At 150 x 200cm it gives two sleepers 75cm of width each, and the 1,000 pocket springs respond to each person individually, so one partner shifting or getting up is less likely to disturb the other. It's the size most UK couples upgrade to when a double starts feeling tight.
How much bigger is the UK king than the double in this mattress?
The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double. The width is felt every night by two people sharing, and the extra length is a genuine relief for anyone approaching six foot, whose feet tend to reach the end of a 190cm mattress.
Will the Spare Room Ortho king suit a tall sleeper?
The 200cm length is the main reason taller sleepers choose a UK king over a UK double. Bear in mind the firm feel too: it suits back and front sleepers well, though lightweight side sleepers may find it a little unforgiving regardless of length.
What room size do I need for this king mattress?
We suggest at least 2.7m x 2.9m for a UK king, which leaves room to walk around the bed and open drawers. In a newer master bedroom that looks generous on the floor plan, measure again once wardrobes are in place before committing. If it's tight, the UK double needs at least 2.6m x 2.8m.
Where can I buy the Spare Room Ortho in a UK king?
Compare the retailers listed on this page; the prices shown are updated as retailers change them. In imperial terms you're buying a 5ft x 6ft 6in mattress, so standard UK king sheets and bases fit without any guesswork.
