Layer Details
- Memory Foam. A 2cm layer of memory foam sits on top, moulding to your body for orthopaedic support and comfort. In practice, this means less pressure on your hips and shoulders as you settle in.
- Pocket Springs. Beneath the foam are 800 individual pocket springs, each hand-sewn into its own fabric pocket. They work independently, so the mattress responds to your shape rather than moving as one unit.
Layer details from mattressnextday.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- 75cm each for two sharing: Each of you gets 75cm of width, enough to change position without negotiating for space or waking the person next to you.
- Pocket springs plus real distance: The 800 individual springs already limit motion transfer, and the UK king's width adds physical separation on top, which means fewer disturbed nights for couples on different schedules.
- Extra length for taller sleepers: At 200cm long, the UK king gives anyone approaching six foot room to stretch out without their feet reaching the edge.
- A hybrid feel across a bigger surface: The 2cm memory foam layer softens pressure at hips and shoulders wherever you settle, useful when you spread out across a wider bed.
- Standard depth, easy bedding: At 24cm deep, most standard king fitted sheets will go on without a struggle, so upgrading size doesn't mean hunting for special bedding.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a double has started to feel tight, especially if one of you keeps different hours and you want their alarm to stay their problem. It also makes sense if either of you is on the taller side, since the 200cm length gives welcome extra legroom, or if a dog has quietly claimed a corner and you'd like your share back.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom can't manage our suggested minimum of 2.7m x 2.9m, or you sleep alone. In either case we'd recommend the UK double instead, which is 15cm narrower and needs a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m.

How much space does each person get on the UK king Coolflex Essentials?
Two people sharing get 75cm of width each across the 150cm mattress. Combined with the 800 pocket springs, which respond to each sleeper separately rather than moving as one unit, that spacing means you feel your own side of the bed rather than every shift your partner makes.
Is the Coolflex Essentials better in a UK king than a UK double for couples?
For most couples, yes. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer than the UK double, and on a medium-feel hybrid where you sink in slightly, that extra width stops you drifting into each other's space. If your room is tight, the UK double remains a reasonable compromise.
Will a UK king Coolflex Essentials fit in my bedroom?
The mattress itself is 150 x 200cm, or 5ft x 6ft 6in. We suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m so you can walk round the bed and open drawers comfortably. Measure with wardrobes and radiators in mind; a new build master can feel smaller than the floor plan suggests.
Should I choose the Coolflex Essentials in a UK king or UK super king?
The UK king is 30cm narrower than the UK super king, and the two are the same length, so sizing up buys width only. If your room meets our suggested 3m x 2.9m minimum for the UK super king and you both sleep restlessly, the bigger size is tempting; otherwise the UK king suits most couples.
Is the UK king Coolflex Essentials long enough for tall sleepers?
At 200cm, the UK king is 10cm longer than the UK double, which is the difference between toes hanging over the edge and lying flat in comfort for anyone around six foot. If length is your main reason for upgrading, the UK king delivers it without demanding a super king sized room.
