- Knitted Cover. A soft knitted cover that is breathable, which means heat can escape rather than gathering at the surface. It helps keep you at an even temperature all night.
- Cool Gel Memory Foam. A thick layer of cool gel-infused memory foam that gives you the contouring and pressure relief of standard memory foam. The gel infusion helps maintain optimum body temperature, so you sink in without overheating.
- Pocket Springs. The foundation is over 800 individually wrapped pocket springs, each moving independently. That means bespoke, targeted support for each part of your body rather than a one-size response.

- The award-winning size: The Which? Best Buy was awarded for double mattresses specifically, so this size is the one the accolade actually applies to.
- Room to share, space to walk: At 135 x 190cm (4ft 6in x 6ft 3in) it leaves floor space for wardrobes and drawers where a UK king would dominate.
- Springs that ignore your partner: Over 800 individually wrapped pocket springs move independently, which matters most when two people share, as one sleeper's movement stays on their side.
- Cool where two bodies overlap: Two sharers generate more heat than one, and the gel-infused foam plus breathable knitted cover help stop the middle of the bed getting clammy.
- Bedside tables still fit: Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m of room and you can usually keep a table on each side, something a wider size often rules out.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your bedroom is a typical UK size, or you sleep alone and want space to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also suits a guest room that hosts visiting couples, since 67.5cm each for two people sharing is enough for occasional stays without swallowing the room.
Consider another size if...
You both sleep restlessly, or one of you is broad-shouldered, and 67.5cm each feels tight night after night. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which is 15cm wider and 10cm longer; allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m of room for it.

Is the Coolflex Hybrid ICE UK double big enough for two adults?
For most couples, yes. The UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, and the 800-plus pocket springs respond to each sleeper separately, so you feel your own support rather than your partner's. If either of you is tall or a sprawler, the UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length.
Does the Which? Best Buy apply to the UK double size?
Yes. The Coolflex Hybrid ICE holds a Which? Best Buy for double mattresses, awarded in February 2025, so this size page describes the exact configuration that earned the award. Handy reassurance if you want independent testing behind a shared bed rather than relying on the brand's own claims.
What room size do I need for the Coolflex Hybrid ICE in a UK double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That usually leaves space for a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and bedside tables on both sides, which is why the UK double remains the default for typical British bedrooms.
Should I buy the Coolflex Hybrid ICE in a double or a king?
Choose the UK double if your room is modest or you want more floor space; choose the UK king if you both value stretching room, since it's 15cm wider and 10cm longer. For the UK king we suggest a room of at least 2.7m x 2.9m, noticeably more than the UK double needs.
Will a UK double Coolflex Hybrid ICE get up a narrow staircase?
At 135cm wide and 26cm deep it's a hybrid with springs, so it arrives less compressed than pure foam and needs manoeuvring room on turning stairs in older terraces or tight new build landings. Measure your stairwell and doorways before ordering, and check the retailer's delivery guidance on the retailers listed on this page.
