Layer Details
- Knitted cover. A soft knitted finish that's breathable, which means air can move through the sleep surface rather than building up heat against your skin.
- 35mm Memory foam. This layer contours and cushions for pressure relief, so your hips and shoulders sink in slightly rather than pressing against a hard surface. The brand says it's backed by 12 years of R and D using AI and body pressure mapping.
- Pure copper layer. An entire layer of pure copper, which the brand states is 1000 times more conductive than wool, silk or polyester. In practice, that means heat is drawn away from your body, and copper is naturally antimicrobial too.
- Reflex foam. Sitting between the copper and the springs, this firmer foam helps achieve the medium feel. It stops you sinking too far into the comfort layers above.
- 1000 pocket spring unit. Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and works independently, which means movement on one side of the bed is far less likely to travel across to yours.
- Recycled rebound foam base. A durable base with foam-encapsulated edge support, so the mattress holds its shape and you can sit or sleep near the edge without it giving way.

- Room for two, sized for real bedrooms: At 135cm wide, it gives a couple a proper shared bed while still leaving space for a wardrobe and drawers in an average room.
- 67.5cm each when you share: Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, which is comfortable for most couples, although sprawling sleepers may occasionally meet in the middle.
- Copper cooling matters more when sharing: Two bodies generate more heat than one, so the pure copper layer drawing warmth away is at its most useful in a shared size.
- Springs that keep the peace: The 1000 pocket springs move independently, which means a partner turning over on their side of the double is less likely to wake you.
- Usable right to the edge: Foam-encapsulated edge support means the full 135cm width holds up, so neither of you rolls off a sagging border.
- Simple to dress: Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet fit, available everywhere at every price, handy if you're furnishing a whole home on a stretched budget.
This size suits you if...
You're a couple after the classic shared size in a typical UK bedroom, you sleep alone but like space to stretch out, or share the bed with a cat or dog who claims a corner, or you're setting up a guest room that needs to handle visiting couples. Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m of floor space, with a bit more if you want bedside tables on both sides.
Consider another size if...
Your room is tight or you sleep alone and don't need the full width. The UK small double is 15cm narrower and the same length, and we suggest at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it, so it suits smaller rooms better.

Is the Copper Fresh Envy 4000 UK double big enough for a couple?
For most couples, yes. At 135cm wide you each get 67.5cm, which works well if you sleep fairly settled. The pocket springs help here too, since movement on one side is less likely to travel across. If either of you is broad-shouldered or a restless sprawler, the shared width can feel snug on any double.
What size room do I need for a UK double mattress?
We suggest a minimum of 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves enough clearance to walk round the bed and open drawers. If you want bedside tables on both sides, measure with those included, as they're usually the first thing a tight room forces you to drop.
Does the Copper Fresh Envy 4000 come in a UK king?
No. The UK double is the largest size this mattress is made in, alongside the UK single and UK small double. For reference, the UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than a UK king, so if you've set your heart on a king-sized bed, this model won't be the one for you.
Should a couple choose the UK double or UK small double of this mattress?
For two people sharing every night, the UK double. It's 15cm wider than the UK small double and the same length, and that extra width is felt most at 3am when one of you turns over. The UK small double makes sense for a solo sleeper in a compact room, or an occasional-use guest bed.
