Layer Details
- Knitted cover. A soft knitted finish that's breathable, which means air can move through the sleep surface rather than building up heat against your skin.
- 35mm Memory foam. This layer contours and cushions for pressure relief, so your hips and shoulders sink in slightly rather than pressing against a hard surface. The brand says it's backed by 12 years of R and D using AI and body pressure mapping.
- Pure copper layer. An entire layer of pure copper, which the brand states is 1000 times more conductive than wool, silk or polyester. In practice, that means heat is drawn away from your body, and copper is naturally antimicrobial too.
- Reflex foam. Sitting between the copper and the springs, this firmer foam helps achieve the medium feel. It stops you sinking too far into the comfort layers above.
- 1000 pocket spring unit. Each spring sits in its own fabric pocket and works independently, which means movement on one side of the bed is far less likely to travel across to yours.
- Recycled rebound foam base. A durable base with foam-encapsulated edge support, so the mattress holds its shape and you can sit or sleep near the edge without it giving way.

- Real room for one: At 120cm wide, this size is 30cm wider than a UK single, so a solo sleeper can stretch out or change position freely.
- Fits compact bedrooms: It's 15cm narrower than a UK double, which can be the difference between a door that clears the bed and one that doesn't in a box room or studio.
- Cool sleeping in a small space: Smaller rooms can run warm, and the pure copper layer draws heat away from your body rather than letting it build up in the memory foam.
- Edge support matters more at 4ft: Foam-encapsulated edges hold their shape, so you can use the full 120cm width without rolling toward the middle or feeling the side give way.
- Copes with occasional sharing: The 1000 pocket springs move independently, so when guests do share it for a night or two, one person's turning is less likely to wake the other.
This size suits you if...
You sleep alone and want more width than a UK single without giving up floor space, your teenager has outgrown their single but the room can't take a bigger bed, or you're furnishing a guest room or holiday let where couples stay occasionally rather than every night. Your room measures at least 2.4m x 2.8m, our suggested minimum for a UK small double.
Consider another size if...
You share the bed every night, because 120cm is a squeeze for two adults long term. We'd recommend the UK double instead: it's 15cm wider, the same length, and we suggest a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m for it.

What are the dimensions of the Copper Fresh Envy 4000 small double?
The UK small double measures 120 x 190cm, or 4ft x 6ft 3in. It shares its 190cm length with the UK single and UK double, so it's the width that sets it apart. We suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m to leave walking space around the bed.
Can a couple sleep on the small double Copper Fresh Envy 4000?
For occasional nights, yes. The pocket springs keep one person's movement from travelling across the bed, which helps when two people share 120cm of width. For every-night couple use it's a tight fit, and the UK double, 15cm wider at the same length, is the better long-term choice.
Should I buy the Copper Fresh Envy 4000 in a small double or a double?
It comes down to your room and who sleeps in it. The UK small double is 15cm narrower than the UK double, and both are the same length. Sleeping solo in a compact room, take the small double. Sharing regularly, and with a room of at least 2.6m x 2.8m, choose the UK double.
Is a small double good for a teenager?
Often, yes. The UK small double is 30cm wider than a UK single but exactly the same length, so a teenager gets adult-sized sleeping space without the bed swallowing the room. The copper layer is a quiet bonus here, since it draws heat away from sleepers who run warm at night.
