- Memory foam. A 3cm layer of pressure-relieving memory foam sits on top, which means it moulds to your shape and cushions pressure points like hips and shoulders. It is a relatively thin comfort layer, so expect gentle contouring rather than a deep sink-in feel.
- Ecocell® foam core. Beneath that is a 14cm Ecocell® foam core providing responsive support while helping air circulate through the mattress. In practice, that means the mattress should recover its shape quickly and feel a little cooler than dense, closed foams.
Layer details from dormeo.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Fits the typical UK bedroom: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double leaves space for a wardrobe and drawers where a UK king would crowd the room.
- A shared width that works: Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, enough for most couples who sleep close rather than sprawled.
- Room for bedside tables: Allow at least 2.6m x 2.8m and most rooms will still take bedside tables on both sides, which matters more than extra mattress width for many couples.
- Easier to move in: At 17cm deep and foam throughout, the UK double is lighter and more forgiving around tight landings and turning stairs than a deep sprung mattress.
- Cheap to dress: Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm duvet are stocked everywhere, useful if you're furnishing a whole home and the budget is already stretched.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the traditional couples' size, or you're kitting out a first flat or second bedroom where the bed has to share the floor with a wardrobe and drawers. It also suits a guest room that hosts visiting couples, since the medium feel and gentle contouring won't strongly divide opinion.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both like to spread out, or one of you is a restless sleeper. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, so we'd recommend it instead if your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Dormeo Fresh Plus double big enough for two adults?
For most couples, yes. Two people sharing a UK double get 67.5cm each, which works if you sleep fairly close. Taller sleepers should note the 190cm length: the UK king adds 10cm of length as well as 15cm of width, so consider sizing up if either of you is over six foot.
What room size do I need for the Dormeo Fresh Plus in a UK double?
We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m. That gives you walking space on both sides and room to open drawers. If you want bedside tables on both sides plus a wardrobe, a slightly larger room is more comfortable, but the UK double fits typical British bedrooms better than any larger size.
How heavy is the Dormeo Fresh Plus double to move upstairs?
Dormeo doesn't publish a weight for this size, but it's an all-foam mattress at a fairly slim 17cm deep, so it's more manageable on turning stairs in older terraces or tight new build landings than a deep hybrid. Foam also flexes slightly around corners, which sprung mattresses won't.
What bedding fits the Dormeo Fresh Plus double?
Standard UK double bedding: sheets sized for 135 x 190cm and a 200 x 200cm double duvet. One practical point is the 17cm depth, which is shallower than many mattresses, so standard-depth fitted sheets will fit easily and deep-pocket versions may sit a little loose.
Should a couple choose the double or the king in the Dormeo Fresh Plus?
It comes down to your room. The UK double suits rooms around our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum and leaves space for other furniture. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, better for restless or taller sleepers, but we'd only suggest it where the room measures at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
