Layer Details
- Smart performance cover. An anti-allergenic, removable cover with comfort pockets. Being removable means you can take it off for cleaning, which is handy if you suffer with allergies.
- Aerocell top layer. A layer of Aerocell foam sits directly beneath the cover. This is the comfort layer you settle into when you first lie down.
- 9cm Octaspring core. Foam springs arranged in 5 zones, which means different areas of the mattress respond differently to your body. You should feel firmer support under heavier areas like the hips and a gentler give at the shoulders.
- Ecocell base. An Ecocell foam base anchors the mattress. It provides the stable foundation the spring layer works against.

- Room to share without crowding the bedroom: At 135 x 190cm, the UK double leaves space for bedside tables on both sides in most rooms, which the same room with a UK king often can't manage.
- Zoned support that works for two: The 9cm Octaspring core is arranged in 5 zones, which means each of you gets firmer support at the hips and softer give at the shoulders.
- A manageable mattress to move: All-foam construction with no metal coils makes this UK double easier to flex round turning stairs in older terraces or a tight new build landing.
- Simple to dress: Double sheets and 200 x 200cm double duvets are stocked everywhere at every price, useful if you're furnishing a whole home and the budget is stretched.
- Slim depth, standard bedding: At 17cm deep it sits low in a standard fitted double sheet, though deep-pocket sheets may bag slightly.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and want the traditional couples' size that fits a typical UK bedroom, or you sleep alone and like room to spread out, perhaps with a dog or cat claiming a corner. It also makes sense for a guest room that hosts visiting couples, since the UK double is the size guests expect.
Consider another size if...
Your room is under our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum, or you both want more personal space than 67.5cm each for two people sharing allows. For tight rooms we'd recommend the UK single; for more space, the UK king, allowing at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Dormeo Octasmart Premium UK double big enough for two adults?
It works for most couples, with the usual caveat that a UK double gives 67.5cm each for two people sharing, a little less than a single each. The Medium/Firm feel and 5-zone core support both sleepers evenly, although if either of you sprawls, the UK king adds 15cm of width and 10cm of length.
Will the Dormeo Octasmart Premium double fit up narrow stairs?
It should be one of the easier doubles to get in. There are no metal coils, only foam and Dormeo's foam springs, so the mattress flexes around turning stairs in older terraced houses and tight landings more forgivingly than a traditional sprung double. Measure your tightest turn first all the same.
What room size do I need for the Octasmart Premium in a UK double?
We suggest allowing at least 2.6m x 2.8m, with around 3m x 3m the comfortable norm. That leaves enough clearance for a wardrobe and drawers alongside the bed, which matters if this is going in a first flat or second bedroom where every centimetre counts.
Should I get the Octasmart Premium in a double or a king?
Choose the UK double if your room sits near the 2.6m x 2.8m minimum or you want bedside tables on both sides without squeezing past the bed. The UK king is 15cm wider and 10cm longer, better for restless couples or taller sleepers, but it needs at least 2.7m x 2.9m.
What bedding fits the Octasmart Premium double?
Standard UK double bedding: fitted sheets for a 135 x 190cm mattress and a 200 x 200cm double duvet. Because this mattress is a slim 17cm deep, regular-depth fitted sheets hold well, while deep-pocket sheets designed for tall hybrids may bag slightly at the corners.
