Layer Details
- Memory foam top layer. A pressure-relieving memory foam layer that moulds to your shape, cradling your body as you settle in. In practice this means less pressure on hips and shoulders, which side sleepers in particular tend to notice.
- Octasprings. A layer of patented honeycomb-shaped Octasprings that move three-dimensionally, adapting to the contours of your body. Because they are made of foam rather than metal, you get spring-like responsiveness without the noise or firmness of a traditional coil.
Layer details from dormeo.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- The traditional size for two: At 135 x 190cm you get 67.5cm each for two people sharing, the width British couples have shared for generations.
- Fits rooms a king would crowd: We suggest at least 2.6m x 2.8m, which means it works in a typical terrace or new build bedroom with space left for wardrobes and drawers.
- Bedside tables on both sides: In most rooms the double leaves enough clearance to keep a table each side, something a wider size often forces you to give up.
- Contouring where couples need it: The Octasprings flex in three dimensions, which means each side of the bed adapts to its own sleeper rather than compressing as one slab.
- Easy to dress: Standard double sheets and a 200 x 200cm double duvet fit, all stocked everywhere at every price point.
- A generous solo size too: One person gets the full 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in to spread out in, with room for a dog or cat claiming a corner.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and your room sits comfortably above our suggested 2.6m x 2.8m minimum, you're furnishing a guest room that needs to sleep visiting couples properly, or you sleep alone and want space to stretch out without the footprint of a UK king. The medium feel with a memory foam top suits most sleepers, although firm-mattress fans should read the model page first.
Consider another size if...
You and your partner both toss and turn, or one of you is tall, since the UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king. We'd recommend the UK king instead if your room allows at least 2.7m x 2.9m.

Is the Dormeo Octasmart Premium Plus double wide enough for a couple?
Yes, though it's the snug end of comfortable. Two people sharing get 67.5cm each, roughly the width of a cot, and the memory foam top helps because each of you sinks into your own spot rather than rolling together. If either of you sleeps restlessly, the UK king adds 15cm of width.
What room size does the Octasmart Premium Plus double need?
We suggest a minimum of 2.6m x 2.8m for a UK double, which leaves enough clearance to walk round the bed and open drawers. That guidance is ours, not Dormeo's. If you want bedside tables on both sides plus a wardrobe, something closer to 3m x 3m is the comfortable norm.
Should I choose the Octasmart Premium Plus in a double or a UK king?
It comes down to room space against sleeping space. The UK double is 15cm narrower and 10cm shorter than the UK king, so restless or taller couples will feel the difference. For the UK king we'd allow at least 2.7m x 2.9m; if your room is under that, the UK double is the sensible pick.
Is the double Octasmart Premium Plus a good choice for a guest room?
It's a strong fit. A UK double sleeps visiting couples properly rather than squeezing them into something smaller, and at 135 x 190cm it still leaves space in a modest second bedroom for a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. The medium feel is also a safe middle ground for guests with unknown preferences.
What bedding fits the Dormeo Octasmart Premium Plus double?
Standard UK double bedding throughout: fitted sheets sized for 135 x 190cm and a 200 x 200cm double duvet. That's a quiet advantage of this size, since double linen is sold everywhere from supermarkets upwards, so replacing or upgrading bedding costs less and takes less hunting than it would for larger sizes.
