Latex comfort layer
A 75mm layer of sustainable Dunlopillo latex sits on top, moulding around your shape to ease built-up pressure. In practice that means a cradled, slightly springy feel rather than the slow sink of memory foam.
Pocket spring core
The core holds 1500 pocket springs, each encased in its own fabric pocket so it responds to your body independently. Edgetech springs reinforce the border, which means stronger edge support when you sit or sleep near the side.
Layer details from mattressonline.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Fits compact rooms: At 90cm wide it slots into box rooms, loft conversions with a narrow strip of usable floor, and children's rooms where the bed competes with a desk and wardrobe.
- Latex that grows with a child: The 75mm latex layer moulds to a changing body and is hypoallergenic, which matters in a child's or teenager's room where dust allergies often show up first.
- Guest-ready support: Medium firm suits most sleepers, so a spare room single works for whichever relative turns up, rather than being tuned to one person's preference.
- Solid edges in a narrow bed: Edgetech springs reinforce the border, which counts for more in a 90cm width where you sleep closer to the side than in any larger size.
- Modest room requirement: We suggest at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space, which most UK single bedrooms and studies doubling as guest rooms can manage.
This size suits you if...
You're buying for a child or teenager and want something more supportive than a basic foam mattress, you sleep alone in a compact room where every centimetre of floor matters, or you're furnishing a spare room and want guests to sleep well rather than politely tolerate the bed.
Consider another size if...
You're an adult who finds 90cm of width restrictive, or you share the bed even occasionally. The UK small double would suit you better: it's 30cm wider than the UK single, the same length, and we suggest a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m for it.

How big is the Dunlopillo Kareena 1500 in a UK single?
It measures 90 x 190cm, which is 3ft x 6ft 3in. That's the standard UK one-person size, so ordinary single sheets and duvets fit without hunting for anything unusual. We suggest allowing at least 2.1m x 2.8m of floor space so you can still open drawers and walk round the bed.
Will the Kareena 1500 UK single fit a bunk or mid sleeper?
The width matches standard bunk frames, but the depth is the sticking point. At 34cm this is a substantial mattress, and most bunks and mid sleepers specify a maximum depth well below that so the guard rail stays effective. Check your frame's stated limit before buying; for many raised beds this mattress will sit too high.
Is a UK single Kareena 1500 big enough for an adult?
For a solo adult sleeper who doesn't move around much, yes, and the reinforced edges help you use the full 90cm width. If you're broad-shouldered or a restless sleeper, sizing up is sensible: the UK small double is 30cm wider than the UK single and the same length, needing a room of at least 2.4m x 2.8m.
Is this a good single mattress for a child's room?
It's a strong fit, with one caveat. The latex layer is hypoallergenic and the pocket springs give proper support through growth spurts, and the 90cm footprint leaves floor space for toys and a desk. The caveat is cost: this is a premium mattress, and a child may outgrow the size before the mattress wears out.
Does the UK single work in a spare room or study?
Yes, and it's arguably the ideal guest size. The medium firm tension suits most visitors, and the small footprint means a study can keep functioning as an office around it. Two singles can also share a guest room with a walkway between, where one larger bed couldn't. Compare the retailers listed on this page for current pricing.
