Layer Details
- Cover. The top cover of the mattress.
- Airgocell foam layer. Emma's Airgocell foam sits beneath the cover, which means a cushioned, pressure-relieving surface where your body first meets the mattress.
- SupportBase foam. A supportive foam layer that sits between the comfort foam and the springs, helping to keep your spine aligned.
- 3-zone pocket spring core. A pocket spring core divided into three zones, with a wraparound comfort foam edge. The zoning means support is tailored to different parts of your body, while the foam edge keeps the perimeter feeling stable.
Layer details from emma-sleep.co.uk product page, September 2026.
- Space that solves restlessness: With 90cm each, a partner who turns all night is simply further away, which does more for your sleep than any comfort layer could.
- Room for the whole household: If children or a large dog end up in your bed most nights, the UK super king is the size where everyone still gets a fair share.
- Usable width right to the edge: The wraparound comfort foam edge keeps the perimeter stable, so all 180cm is genuinely sleepable rather than a soft border you avoid.
- Zoned support across the full width: The 3-zone pocket springs give firmer support where you're heaviest, and both sleepers get that same tailoring wherever they settle.
- A big size without the big price bracket: The Original Lite sits at the affordable end of the hybrid market, which makes sizing up to a UK super king far less painful than with premium rivals.
This size suits you if...
You share the bed every night and a UK king still feels like a compromise, you have a restless partner and want distance rather than a firmer surface, or children and pets treat your bed as communal territory. It also makes sense if you have a large master bedroom, perhaps in a period property, where a smaller bed would look and feel undersized.
Consider another size if...
Your bedroom is under our suggested minimum of 3m x 2.9m, or you'd struggle to get a 180cm mattress round a tight landing. We'd recommend the UK king instead, which is 30cm narrower and far easier to place.

Is the Emma Original Lite UK super king big enough for a couple with kids climbing in?
It's the best-placed size for it. At 180 x 200cm you get 90cm each as a couple, so a child arriving at 3am borrows space rather than taking yours. The stable foam edge helps too, letting adults shuffle outwards without feeling like they're rolling off.
What room size do I need for a super king Emma Original Lite?
We suggest at least 3m x 2.9m, and around 3.5m x 3.2m feels right, with clear walking space on both sides and room for bedside tables. Measure the door swing as well: at this size, a door that opens towards the bed can become the deciding factor.
How much bigger is the UK super king than the UK king in this mattress?
The UK super king is 30cm wider than the UK king; both are 200cm long. That 30cm sounds modest but it's the difference between sensing every turn your partner makes and barely noticing them, which is the main reason people size up.
Will the Emma Original Lite UK super king be hard to get upstairs?
It arrives rolled and boxed, which makes stairs and landing turns far more manageable than a traditional 180cm-wide mattress would be. Emma doesn't publish a weight for this size, so if access is tight or you're carrying it alone, check the brand's own guidance before ordering.
